Hey y'all, I'm back.
I have a new 1.9 build and I don't know how to measure how much power is needed by weapons.

This is my new destroyer escort and I dont know how to calculate the power draw of the lasers. I see 10-6 but I dont know what that means.

For the weapons
10 power needed per shot
6 power received per 5s increment
ROF 10
Therefore, the rate-of-fire is one shot every ten seconds. You could get the same performance for cheaper with Capacitor 5 lasers.
For the reactor(s)
Three weapons each seeking six power per five seconds is eighteen power. If you use Cap-5 lasers instead, only 15 power is needed.
Total reactor power output is the important part. Whether you use one-by-fifteen or four-by-four or something else is a decision guided by cost, crew, HTK, MSP, and redundancy considerations.

10-6 means the laser needs 10 power to fire and can charge 6 every increment, meaning it fires every 10 seconds (2 5 second increments).
That's where it gets a little complicated. 3 lasers means you can charge 18 power a round, so could use a reactor that outputs 18. OTOH since the guns will only fire every other round, you could try a reactor that outputs 15... but I'm not sure if that would work. In VB power was split evenly between weapons, so a 15 power reactor would charge the 3 lasers by 5 a turn, but now I think it prioritizes charging one weapon as fast as possible, which might mean round one it would charge 6-6-3, then on the next round you'd end up with 2 lasers fully charged and one at 9. Unless you want to experiment, you're probably best off with 18 power worth of reactors on the ship.

Or change the laser to be a 10-5 and then it only needs 5 power per increment. Cheaper too i think.

So the first increment the 15 power reactor would generate 15 across 3 C6 lasers, so the split would go
6-6-3
then why not on the second round does it not go
4-4-7
there isn't overcharge right?
-
oh my god it cant charge 7 in a round nevermind
