Hi,
I tried to create something that would replace PDC. Basic idea is to create space station to service fighters (sattelites). I'm having trouble with making it work. I can't assign fighters to mothership (the option doesn't show in fleet movement orders). It is generating PPV but I can't dock and reload missile launchers. Any ideas what am I missing?

Unless I am blind, it looks like you are missing hangar bays on you space station.

Yup, no hangar bays, according to the description.
-
There is no need for hangar bays as there are maintenance facilities instead...
I would probably not construct fighter sized missile stations though as they are hugely inefficient rather than a more dedicated missile platform if a bigger size... at least a few thousand tons. You could also reduce the deployment to very low if they are deployed over a populated planet. I usually imagine that people working on a station at orbit over a population don't actually live on the station itself.

Maintenance facilities won't allow a fleet of fighters to land and reload their box launchers, which is what OP is asking about.

Maintenance facilities can still reload box launchers - just slower

You are thinking of Ordnance Transfer Points (http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php?topic=8495.msg109127;topicseen#msg109127):
For C# Aurora, box launchers can only be reloaded in a hangar, or at an Ordnance Transfer Point (a Spaceport, Ordnance Transfer Station or Ordnance Transfer Hub). Reloading at an Ordnance Transfer Point is 10x slower than in a hangar (similar to the penalty for maintenance facilities in VB6 Aurora).
Maintenance facilities are only for maintaining ships.

I confused maintenance facilities with their VB6 cousins, my bad.

Thanks. I'll try a space station with Ordnance Transfer Hub. Any thoughts on concept of stationary ship and missile defence? Currently I don't see a way to effectivelly protect a planet against Invaders (actual invaders, not NPC race).

To some extent defending the planet is the wrong place, you should be defending the jump points because that is where you have the advantage.
You can still use a station to provide maintenance and logistics at the jump point though. Fighter class ships are nice and convenient even if they might be less efficient than big ships.

I've played against invaders once. A wormhlole was open for 10 years with nothing coming through. What came through after that time would destroy any fleet. I was able to mop them up by outranging their beam ships. Hence the idea of static missiles.

Sorry I misread your earlier post, I've never fought Invaders I've only read about them in one of Steve's AAR's.
