Title: The Magic Freighter!
Post by: IanD on November 05, 2020, 02:38:34 PM
Every two months an enemy freighter appears as if by magic. There is no track of it arriving via a jump point and it appears well inside the sensor envelope of a cruiser squadron 588k kilometres distant. It has no cargo and can be captured by boarding and does not try to escape. I now have six of them but they are very old tech. I completely re-surveyed the system catching a small outpost (thermal 5) I had missed. It did not survive my invasion. The freighters still appear. There was a fleet in a neighboring system but they are gone now. I even resurveyed that system. The only other systems that link are one which is an empty system and the initial contact system which has also been re-surveyed. I have surveyed 6 jumps out from their home system and eliminated all populations I have found. There may be other undiscovered populations as I have found only one jump point stabilisation ship and no jump capable ships. I have explored beyond the alien stabilised network with no evidence of further colonies. So where does the magic freighter come from and how does it get there? Anyone have any ideas?

I believe it is civilian ship spawning. This should stop when the line run out of money. I encountered this in previous version after I captured NPR homeworld.

That's possible although the system the vessel is spawning in is not the aliens home system (now under new management).

Ship spawning should move if the capitol moves, though I thought that was bugged.
