I researched the weapons, like Laser 12 cm, Rail gun 10cm and so on.
But if I go to make a Turret the pull down has no Systems Listed.
What am I doing wrong?

Before you can make a turret, you need to design a specific weapon. Click on the "Design" tab at the bottom of the reasearch screen, then (for example) take a 10cm laser with near uv frequency and capaciter 3. Click on the create button. This will put a specific laser design that you now need to reasearch. You can find the design under the ship component field of the reasearch screen. Once the design has been reasearched you will be able to choose it when designing a turret. Currently the only systems that can be placed in a turret are Lasers, Mesons, and Gauss Cannons. Weapons like railguns, torpedo's, carronades and microwaves beams do not have the option of being put into turrets.
This may have been more detail than you needed, but I have seen several related questions recently so I thought I would map it out for anybody.

Not a problem. There is a huge amount to figure out, and it is changing on a fairly constant basis. Not too long ago the maximum range of missiles was under 5 million km, even at max tech. Now 50 to 100 million km is not impossible. little things like that tend to stand on end the way someone thinks things are supposed to go. The tutorials help, but are unfortunately a little bit outdated.

Yeah. I know
But between school, DJing, and the four games I've got under progress, doesn't leave much time for updating tutorials.
Anyone is free to update them on the wiki.

Just giving Steve a crack at them first if he wants it. I know that he has left it to others in the past, but as it is his game I figured he should have a chance to say if he wants to do something like this first.
