So, I've been playing Aurora for quite some time now but have never continued on this far with one game and I have hit a hurdle where I don't know how something works! It's a great feeling
I have 4 Systems with colonies, one planet in each system has a Sector Command and I can see them in the Sectors window.
I can create new Task Forces fine, but I can not seem to set them to be based on the planets with Sector Commands. I thought I could just 'Move to Population' in the Task Force window but only Earth is an option.
I am guessing two things:
1. I'm just looking in the wrong place
or
2. I need to design a ship with a command deck, load the relevant sector commander, move the ship to the planet with the Second Command and unload him
Any ideas?

Have you tried SM mode? I have a vague recollection of this coming up a year or so ago, and Steve putting in something to allow such moves, but I might be wrong.

You can move commanders around in any ship. Just use "load commander" on any ship in orbit around Earth and then unload the commander at the destination.
I usually design and build one fast jump capable courier for this.

I think he's talking about the actual TF - not the officers in it....

If you're talking moving your Task Force from Barrayar to Beta Colony, in the F12 fleet window, click on the right most tab. In the upper right of the tab is the TF location (system and body). You can reassign the TF to a different system and body in that place (you made need to be SpaceMaster).

This is a function to move a Task Group (i.e. a squadron of ships) around.
What Beersatron wants is to move a Task Force (i.e. the admiral and his staff (CTRL-F4)) around
I have played around a bit but havenĀ“t found a way to do it.

From the Ctrl-F4 screen.
Move to Flagship. F12 and move to the new system. Back to Ctrl-F4, and Move to Population.
Should work.

I think this is Beer's option #2. It doesn't work if you don't have any flagships....
I just spent a minute or two looking for all the places I might try to do it, and I couldn't find any, even in SM mode. What Beer said he tried (going to ctrl-F4 in SM mode and using "Move to Population") is the way I thought it had been "fixed" to be able to do this.
STEVE - I think the ctrl-F4 screen should list all populations as candidates (and all flagships, even if not co-located with the TF) when in SM mode.

Added for v5.0

Thanks for the responses folks!
I really should design a command ship at some point so I will get a fast courier setup for that purpose.
I may also cheat and get into the DB and fiddle with a few entries

If you're talking moving your Task Force from Barrayar to Beta Colony,
Don't you think Gregor will be a little upset with that? Even if the task force commander is Miles?
