When I add a thermal sensor to my spacecraft, it turns into a military vessel. This does not seem correct. I have seen numerous spacecraft designs on this forum that incorporated thermal sensors without them also being military vessels. I have attached a screen shot to demonstrate. I created an empty commercial vessel. When I add the thermal sensor, it turns into a military vessel. Can someone please explain this?

It needs to be a size 1 installation to be deemed as Commercial, this is for Active Sensors, Thermal and EM.

This stops players from fielding Soviet Style 'Fishing Vessels' with massive passive sensor arrays

Thank you, that makes perfect sense.

True, makes it more of a trade off than being a straight commercial vessel. I would like to try this out but I've never met a race that I've become friendly enough with to conduct a bit of espionage on. Hmmm, I wonder what that says about my style of play
