I've explored four systems, and can find no jump points. Considering the games has 2500 systems, that just can't be right. Do I need to start over?
Eric
EDIT: Yes, Grav surveys were completed in all systems.

You can use SM mode on the F9 screen to force a JP.

Assuming you have no more systems to survey, you could use SM mode to add some JPs to one/all of the systems. Open the F9 screen and select the Jump Points tab. in SM mode you have the option to add JP.

Thanks. I found it and was waiting for a reply to see if it was safe to use.
Now that I know, I can add a JP to one of the systems. It makes a nice
bottleneck for defending the five heart systems. Thanks. ^_-

PS: Does Aurora have closed JPs ala Starfire? There may be JPs in one
or more of the systems, just undetectable from my side.
-
It has closed jp only in the sense that a system that has been surveyed and all of the jp lead to surveyed systems can still have a new jp appear from someone coming through. After it appears a new survey will discover it.

Aurora has dormant jump points. They are undetectable until a ship emerges from one. After that it can be detected normally, even if you didn't see the transit.

Is it possible for the SM to detect such JPs?
-
No because there aren't any. If any ship cross unexplored jump point then target system number is randomed - if its alredy exsisting system that will lead to unexplored jp in that system, or if there aren't any unexplored jps in target system aurora create new one.
Remember that unexplored mean that its neither explored by You or any NPR/INVADER.
