So.. I just deceided to give Aurora another go, and took the time to read about all of the wiki, plus the tutorials on this forum..
I've just started a (conventional) game, and have been busy assigning officers to positions fitting their skills and setting up initial research.
With 5 spare officers, I made a geosurvey team, because I noticed in the economics screen, that Earth starts out with 'Geological Team Survey: No'
Having searched all menu's, it remains a mystery to me, how I can actually put my (5-man strong) geosurvey team to work, now that I have created them..
How can I get them to geosurvey Earth?

It starts automatically, eventually the survey will be complete and the Geological Team Survey will change to completed.

"New deposits of Uridium have been found on earth by the Eleanor Nolan Geology Team. The total amount available has increased from 19167.67 to 119167.6738 tons".
Wow. more than 6 times as much Iridium. Is that beginners luck?

Some random chance there; however, if anything is found on full sized planets it tends to be 100 000 tonnes.
