Title: Installation problem
Post by: Lonewolf187 on August 14, 2011, 05:36:44 PM
Hello everyone:
I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium and I am trying to reinstall Aurora however I keep getting the same error message that Vulture was having in his thread:

"Setup cannot continue because some files are out of date on your system.  Click OK if you would like Setup to update your files for you now.  You will need to restart Windows before you can run Setup again.  Click cancel to exit setup without updating system files"

I have tried moving the install files to another directory other then Program Files or Program Files (x86) on the C: drive and I have also checked the microsoft site in regarss to the error message however I was unable to resolve the issue using the information there.  Has anyone been able to get past this error message?

Do I need to modify the Setup. LST to get it to work?

I'm running 64 Bit Windows 7 Professional, and when I tried installing, it popped up a bunch of "This installer wants to overwrite some files that are newer, blah blah, do you want to keep these files?" so I clicked yes on all of them (There were a lot) and it worked just fine.

I am using windows 7 64bit, something s to make sure of

Create a folder in the c drive for aurora and place all the files in that, there is no setup files you need to change or anything like that.

Make sure UAC is off and you are an administrator of your PC, they will make sure there is no conflicts. Also make sure you have downloaded all the needs install files, my first attempt I did not read the install documents thoroughly and missed a couple of vital steps including copying various folders from the zip file into the directory.

Try this.

Ok, Ive tried running the program as administrator and turned the UAC off.  Ive moved the install files into the Aurora file on the C: drive.
When I ran the setup. exe I got a gray window that said Copying files, and it copied the files till it got to: Processing MSACC. OLB (22 of 22) then it throws up the same install message and if I click either OK of Cancel (I've tried both) it does not install anything.

How did you get the game to install on your D: drive? I must be doing something wrong in regards to installing it.

On the installation when it shows the install path, you should be able to click to change that.

Ah, I see.  However that's a problem.  I don't even get that far, I don't get to the part where it asks me where I want to install.

That should be one of the first things you see right after launching the setup.

Yep I'm installing 4. 91 the first install file.  From what I understand you are supposed to install the 4. 91, then the 4. 91 upgrade, then the 5. 50, then 5. 52.  Is that correct?

Your right it should be, but the install doesn't get that far it just stalls right after it starts to copy the files to start the install process.

The 5.50 includes the 5.52, so there is no need to do that step. But you what you've said is correct. 4.90 then 4.91, then 5.50/2.

With the 4.91, you did copy all of the folders over too, yes?

You might try right-clicking the setup.exe and setting compatibility mode to Windows XP, see if that helps. Also, right-click "Run as Administrator".
