Hi,
I've got a jump gate construction ship building the second side of a jump gate, it is 54 days before completion (start at 180 days), but my fleet can jump without problem in and out.
Is it a bug or a feature?
It seems strange to allow to jump through gate not finished, in addition, it allow you to somewhat set temporary jump gate if you want.

Are you sure that your fleet is using the gate, and not another ship equipped with a jump engine? Having any ship equipped with a jump engine on the point will allow any ship (that is compatible in terms of size and engine type) transit the point in either direction.

It was my first idea, but i managed to get in and out with 2 fleet, a fleet of 4*80K+ civilian ships and my main military force of 32 military ships, each fleet in one transit all together. I've got only one military jmp cruiser on place, limited to 21K ships and a squadron tech transit of 5, so I don't think it works because of the jump cruiser which I use to get collier ships in and out.
Do you think I nedd to put my jump cruiser away and try again?

If you select "Standard Transit", a single jumpship is enough. It is considered to just open the jumppoint and let everyone pass (or shuttle back and forth, whatever rational suits you). The drawback is much longer jump-blindness.
Only if you use "Squadron Jump" the max. sqadron size comes into play (and this can obviously not be done with gates)
Military jump-drives can shuttle both, comercial and military ships, but comercial jump-drives can only shuttle comercial ships.
Still, the comercial ships should have to be at equal or less mass than the military jumpship. If they are larger, this sounds like a bug

Just to make sure we are on the same page here.
Once the first part of the gate (i.e. the one on _your_ side) is complete, you can jump into the other gate, but are not supposed to be able to jump back via jumpgate until you build a gate on the other side.
Oh, a thought. Are you sure there wasn´t an alien gate on the far side? Aurora places "ancient" gates on random jump points, often only on one side of ´em. I belive, you can still order a jumpgate builder to build a gate, even if there is a gate already. Check on the system map. If there is a red squar at the jumppoint, then there is allready a gate.

Does your construction ship have a jump engine?
-
The biggest size ship you can jump is 20,950 tons without a jumpgate.

No, it hasn't a jump engine

I think I made a mistake and tried one or two times to transit back with my salvage fleet, and it didn't work, I will check on a save tonight.
