Title: how to start a multiple system game (each race with own homeworld)
Post by: MattyD on December 03, 2011, 05:26:43 PM
I've wanted to do a 2300AD game for a long time and Steve's recent posts about NA made me really keen to do this. My current game has expanded beyond the capabilties of the 2 races I have turned on and there is no real reason for the main race to fracture.

So, I thought, I'll set up a new game

SOL
French
Chinese
American

Gamma Serpentis
Kafer

Now, I have worked out (I think) how to get multiple races based within the Sol system but I have no idea how to add a new system with a custom race on it. Now, I think it was Eric that set up a game with a resurgent human empire and an alien on (the Zug?) so I know it can be done. The thing is I don't know how, my best attempt resulted in an alien race that had no home system.

Any tips on how to accomplish this?

Go to the System Information (f9) tab. You can use the 'create system' or 'create nebula' buttons to make new systems.  These will be random, then you can use the create empire buttons to make races.

Although the planet you want to create the race on has to have a suitable (nitrogen-oxygen (or methane)) atmosphere.

I think I've got it - it takes a while for the Create System to make something suitable.

And goodness, does it take time to set up 4 empires.

Thanks for your help.

Don't forget that if you generate a system with a planet in roughly the right temperature range, you can use SM Mode to add a suitable atmosphere.
