Title: Mass drives not working?
Post by: numdydar on April 23, 2013, 01:31:27 PM
Plopped some automatie mines 10-20 on a planet along with 2-3 mass drivers.  Set their destination to Earth and nothing seems to happen.  In looking at Earth and the mineral view there are no numbers in the mass driver column after a year goes by.  (and yes there is a mass driver on Earth too to catch them  :) )

Am I doing something wrong?

Did you check the system map to verify that there are packets en route?

Also, just covering all bases, the planet sending minerals is in the same system as Earth?

I have the same problem, and this is a fairly common post lately. I think mass drivers are bugged in that the incoming minerals don't show up in that tab, though they do enter your stockpiles.

I occasionally see numbers popping up on the positive side of my mass driver balance on Earth, where all Sol's mass drivers are aimed, but mostly the mass driver column shows zero.  I know stuff's arriving though, because Earth is pretty much out of minerals.  It's definitely the reporting that's awry, not the actual function.

You will only see something in that column if a mass packet arrives at the exact same tick that you are viewing the minerals screen.

That makes a certain logical sense.  It'd be nice if the numbers got aggregated over the same period the other columns are (set, if I'm not mistaken, by the radio button just above).

Actually, just having all the received packages tallied and displayed per construction cycle would be fine. It's the same amount of time the game takes for determining use of minerals, after all.
