Why or how the Teutonic order came to be what it is today has been largely loss. Their are rumors it was founded by a group of scientists to preserve what they deemed vital knowledge, before the “Collapse” took place.
After the Collapse this led to it being one of the last bastions of civilization, in a world of modern barbarians. Inevitably this led to constant conflict with outside forces which slowly morphed the peaceful crusade for preserving knowledge into the militaristic theocracy that rules supreme today. The endless crusades and conflict could of went on in definitively if not Bjorn von Schuster making a critical break through leading to the discovery of Trans-Newtonian Minerals. The first application for these new minerals were powered armor suits for the armies of the Order. This quickly led to the pacification of Earth after decades of war and turmoil. The unintended consequence of all this was an empire built on crusades and conflicts no longer had either.
So now they look to the stars.
Anyhow just a bit of a back story I give all my games to get me in the proper mood.

2152-Expansion of Shipyard Finished
July-Nuclear Thermal Engine Tech finished. Research of an Engine Quickly started and finished. Geological Survey Sensors started.
At the start of 2153 the Order has 100 Factories,120Mines,5Labs and 880 CI left to convert.
March 2153- Geological Survey Sensors Finished.
With Sensor Research finished all the components needed for a survey of the Sol system are in place. This leads to the first space faring craft design.
