Title: Questions about Damage Control
Post by: Mirodian on March 12, 2014, 06:38:12 PM
Before I explain my curiosity, what does damage control specifically do and is there a formula or general idea for what damage control rating is effective?

I'm wondering because I recently encountered some *ahem* enemies that like to use meson cannons, and a group of my 24k ton frigates had a vicious battle with them before being overwhelmed.    I noticed that despite having no protection whatsoever, my frigates were so large and had so much engineering (51 compartments each) that they remained functional through several minutes of point blank range fire, I might have even won with some proper planning beforehand.    The one thing that I can't be sure about is how much tougher they would be if they had damage control sections, for future threats.

afaik, They don't do anything other than add damage control rating.  As a means of protecting against mesons they won't help all that much.

Edit: NVM, I found an explanation on the wiki under ship maintenance, I have all I need to know now.

Hmm.  Well, I read the wiki a number of times and still have the same question:  what does damage control do?

They add damage control rating, which determines how fast ships can make repairs using MSP.

I drastically favor using more engineering spaces though.

Ok, thanks.
