Title: Gatebuilder
Post by: ExChairman on September 05, 2014, 04:10:54 AM
Shouldn't there be a material cost to build gateways??
I have a gatebuilder that is on its 25 gate and still going on...

You used to have to supply 'parts' but that was removed a couple of years ago as it was too much micro (and I think the NPCs had a tough time).

the ship that builds the gate could be removed on completion. that's not much micro.

The cost of a construction ship is usually greater than the cost of the gate.

How about destroying the Gate Builder component, which then needs a repair at a Shipyard?

How about a cargo bay full of gallacite or whatever?

You guys keep thinking of the gate a a solid object. The gate is described as a stable jump point in which a ship can jump through without the use of jump engines. The "constructing" part is the module stabilizing the gravitational anomalies with some sort of technobable, ie. magnetic field, gravitons, neutrinos, ect.
