Title: Can I create an empire/race which does not breath oxygen?

Just trying to set up a game in SM mode and want to create an opponent which does not breath oxygen.  I have tried quite a few atmosphere combinations (without oxygen) but I always get the "This planet does not have a suitable atmosphere" message.  Is this a fruitless quest or am I just doing it wrong?

Okay, I found a way to do methane.  Anyone know of any other possibilities?

I just started a new game using SM Mode (no Sol start) and it seems that when you create a new empire in the system information screen, it will let you create a race that breathes non-oxygen atmosphere. Mine is a methane race, I believe, but there were at least two others that I passed up on.
