Title: Why can missiles not be less than 1 MSP?
Post by: ty55101 on June 15, 2016, 01:40:22 AM
So I was trying to design some swarm missiles to come out from a pretty big carrier missiles and with what I got they ended up being about half of a MSP. I tried to create it and it said that missiles must be above 1 MSP. Why is this in there? Is it just something to do with being easier to code?

Because it used to be possible, but someone raised the possibility of making chaff missiles as decoys, and Steve decided the simplest way to fix it was to set this limit.

Too easy to game the AI with sub size 1 missiles, give the poor bastards a chance.

Wouldn't the solution be to make it so final fire interception refuses to aim at WH:0 missiles, then?

With sufficiently high tech, you can build a missile that is sub-1 msp with a damage dealing warhead.

AMM used to be predominantly under 1 msp. It's when they turned to being used in an offensive role that things changed. :)
