Title: System ownership
Post by: Detros on February 16, 2017, 01:14:41 PM
What good it is to claim a system for your race? Is it done just via that "Update Sys Command" in the main ingame menu or are there also other ways?

In the galaxy map there is a dropdown box which lets you set "system ownership".

And does that anything else than maybe show racial fllags on the map or so?
Say, will NPRs try to go closer/not go closer depending on their traits and me being in neutral/my system? I guess some aggressive NPRs may be angered by me building so big flag pole ..and so they arrive faster.

No to both.

Which is a real shame imo; diplomacy would be much richer if it was possible to stake claims along with softer options such as "allies welcome" or "non-military ships welcome".

Yes agree claims would be nice.
The only effect I have seen it have is on what info is displayed on the galaxy map, depending on your settings it may not show you how many unsurveyed bodies/JP:s you have in a system you set as owned by another race.

I will add some form of territorial claims in C# Aurora.
