Title: Commanders of salvage ships

According to Leaders (http://aurorawiki.pentarch.org/index.php?title=Leaders), commanders with "Factory Production Bonus" speed up the processing of wrecks (raise the tonnes/day value). But Salvage (http://aurorawiki.pentarch.org/index.php?title=Salvage) seems to say they raise the yield.
Which of these is the right one? Or are both of them true?

They increase both the speed and the chances of salvaging components and material.
