Can troop transfer bays on one ship transfer their ground forces to drop modules located at other ship (in the same space or even its hangar)?
I got an idea the drop carrier could load the forces to the dropship and send it out. One Zirconium should just fit in one Zinnia.
This was, once I get necessary tech, same carrier can be used with a fast bording dropship instead of this basic one.

The exact size of Zinnia is 625. Would it still fit or is exact size used only for fighters?

Found it (http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php?topic=1680.0):
"Loading ground units from Bays on one ship to Combat Drop Modules on another can be done in space, which is necessary if smaller drop ships were going to load troops from bays on large troop transports before attempting a planetary assault."
So, yes, it should be possible.

IRC the two ships have to be part of the same task force to accomplish that task. Also, they are stationary while performing it. It would be nice to have troops board assault shuttles while in the final leg of the trip, but alas, not the case.

Yes, that sounds right. You need to give them the command at some point and they will work on it there. And because it is a proper command they should not be able to be subject of escort-move during that time so one can't move them that way neither.
So it is a really good idea, to have at least one Cargo Handling System, to play sitting-ducks for the shorter period of time.

Sorry for hijacking your thread but I also have a question regarding troop transfer between ships, so I didn't really want to start another thread on the same topic.
What I'd like to know is, if there is a way to transfer troops to ships who don't have drop modules but only standard troop bays? The reason I'm asking is, that I like to have a ground unit stationed at my defence stations and I'd like to transport troops to them with a troop transport ship, since it seems kind of silly to have to tug the entire battle station to the planet just to load marine complement on it. . .
I also wonder if there is a way to replace battle losses to the crew via another ship - I'm again asking because of my defence stations. Same as with a troop transport - it seems a bit silly to tug a humongous battle station up and down the solar system just to replace few causalities or just to rotate crew. ;D

Not sure I understand the question, but if you just want to do the Load troops from place A, Unload troops at place B, then you don't need any drop modules.
-
Sorry, if the question was a bit unclear. What I wanted to ask is, if it is possible to ferry troops to space station (or a ship which is not currently in orbit of a colony for that matter)? What I'd like to do, is transport a marine detachment to my defence stations at the jump points but I can't seem to be able to unload troops on them.
Second question was, if it is possible to replace killed crew on those stations without tugging them to the colony.

Well...
The game doesn't really support 'starbases' in any respect. You don't actually need troops on them anyway, unless you have boarding shuttles; in that case, I'd suggest using cryo drop modules and just parking the cryo'd troops in the shuttle.
If you really want troops on your starbase, use SM to teleport your station to a planet (in the special order tab), have it load the infantry, then teleport it back to its waypoint.

Thank you, thought that might be the case but I still rather asked. Truth be told, I mostly keep troops on my stations due to RP reasons anyhow. :)

Otherwise in order move troops from one ship to another you need to find a convenient system body (planet, moon, asteroid, comet). Any one will work.
