AD 2303 (January to December) Refits, Refits and YET MORE REFITS
The NCN is focused on updating the primary defence forts at Earth and refitting their existing fleet with the latest technology.
In January Rear Admiral GlippiR Broddison retires as head of the NCN. He was promoted to Lt. Commander in 2263. He served his first years leading the Public affairs office from 2264-68. He was then given command of the FT Amber on the Faewald run with BIC. In 2269 he was promoted to Commander and transfered to BuSurvey and took command of the Amundson class Survey Ship the John Franklin. After one year he transfered to the command the JT Edmonton and commanded her until 2274. From 2274 to 2280 he transfered to Fortress Command and held various commands within it until in 2279 he was promoted to Captain. In 2280 he took command of the Tribal Class Destroyer Alqonquin and then in 2281 was given command of the Frigate Bloodhound as squadron commander until he transfered his flag to the Frigate Beagle from 2284 to 2285. He transfered back to Fortress Command in 2285 and commanded various forts until 2288. That year he took command of BIC and servered as its commanding officer for 2 years. He was promoted to Commadore in 2289. From 2290-2292 he again was in Fortress command and held various CO positions. In 2292 he was promoted to Rear Admiral and became the CO of the Norther Coalition Naval Command. A post that he has held for 11 years. He was instrumental in the FRP, and has tireless worked on modernization of the Navy. He had over his service been in all three branches: BIC, BuSurvey, the NCN. Plus had commanded ships and forts with equal skill. His farewell party was well attended and he spoke to the graduating officer cadet class about the value of all branches of the Navy.
2303 (January 21) Commodore Leon Barlow has been promoted to Rear Admiral, another primarily Fortress command officer as has been typical.
2303 (January 26) Captain Lucas Benson has been promoted to Commodore
2303 (February 3) Commander Eleanor Bradley has been promoted to Captain
In February the first parts of the alien research facitly arrives on Earth and is assembled but operation will not be possible for a few years. It is intended to add the two alien research facilities to the CoE for Energy Weapon Research and the CoE for Missile Developments.

The latest NCN military vessel. Catagorized as a light cruiser it is more appropriately considered a Destroyer Leader. It mounts the standard package of 6 Buckler CM launchers plus 2 Goaltender turrets for long and close ranger missile defence. Its offensive power is 4 Arbalist missile launchers coupled with for the first time high power ship killing lasers mounted in bow barbettes. The range of the bow chasers is limited by the targeting system to half its maximium theoretical range. It also mounts for the first time a lower resolution sensor system intended to detect Wolver ships as far as possible from the ship. It still uses the aging fire control systems for missile control as so far the NCN has seen no need to update them.

Forge Traffic Control has another busy year. FHG III finishes its shore leave and is back harvesting at Deeper Sky on January 21. ICG V arrives on January 9 and departs for Earth on January 26. ICG VI arrives in Forge orbit on January 26 and departs on Febuary 10. ICG VIII arrives on January 29 and departs for Poesidean on Febuary 10. FHG V, in orbit since last year, loads crews on Febuary 3 and is back harvesting Deeper Sky on the next day. Heavy Lift Group IV arrives on Febuary 18 and departs on March 3 for Earth. The next day Heavy Lift Group III arrives from Poisedean and leaves later for Sol. FHG XII arrives on April 24, completes crew leaves on June 3 and is back harvesting that very day. Heavy Lift Group II makes orbit on May 6 and departs for Rosetta on May 18. ICG VII arrives on September 25 and departs on October 15. ICG VI arrives on September 30 and departs on November 7 for Sol. ICG V arrives after offloading on Arborea on October 18 and departs for Earth on November 1. FHG IV and VI arrives to add to the Farm on October 21, their crews are done with their shore leave on December 1 and the next day the groups are harvesting again. Heavy Lift Group III arrives on November 11 and departs for Poesidean on November 16.
On the miltary side 5th and 6th squadrons again exchange responsibilities for the Wolver watch during the month of March. 6th Squadron is back in Sol on April 13. Troop Transport Mission I makes forge orbit on December 18 for shore leave before heading for Earth.
The 1st Geosurvey team completes their survey of Forge on November 1 and the news is very welcome when it arrives back at Earth. The proven deposits of high availability duranium have increased by more than a factor 7 and three additional TN were found. This makes mining Forge even more economical and makes the colony valuable as more than a central fuel storage facitilty and place for shore leaves. The team spends a week to make sure they haven't missed anything in their anlysis of their results and then heads to Planet III arriving there on November 7. They will again have to use the Upton as an orbiting habitate while they conduct their ground surveys of the univinting rock ball.
2303 (November 1) The 1st Geosurvey Team has completed its surface-based geological survey of Forge
2303 (November 1) A deposit of 9 778 129 tonnes of Sorium (Accessibility 0.1) has been found on Forge
2303 (November 1) A deposit of 7 689 529 tonnes of Vendarite (Accessibility 0.1) has been found on Forge
2303 (November 1) A deposit of 22 838 841 tonnes of Mercassium (Accessibility 0.3) has been found on Forge
2303 (November 1) Additional deposits of Duranium have been found on Forge. The total amount available has increased from 2 010 308 to 15 379 058 tonnes.

Faewald's industrial park produces life support and housing for 2 m colonists infrastructure x600 without any interuptions due to lack of duranium, but this number falls below demand. Based on messages sent between Governor House and BIC on Earth the decision is made to halt colonist transfers from Sol and fix the loads of ICG I, II, IV to lifesupport and housing, heavy mining machinery and fabrication machines. ICG III would carry only lifesupport and housing plus heavy mining machinery. Heavy Lift group I would carry two loads of heavy mining machinery and one load of fabrication machines the remaining space would be used by lifesupport and housing. This will ensure that minerals are available and increase the size of the industrial park.
FHG X departs Faewald on January 2 and is back at Doinean on January 8. ICG II arrives on January 26, the ships depart for Earth on Febuary 17. FHG I arrives Faewald orbit on February 12, has crews back from shore leave on March 25 and is back harvesting Doinean on April 4. Heavy Lift group I arrives on April 7 and breaks orbit heading for Sol on April 18. ICG III arrives on May 22 after picking up the stored minerals on Banshee. The ships of ICG III depart for Sol on June 15 with cargo holds loaded with valuable TN minerals. ICG I arrives on July 25 and departs for Earth on August 14. FHG II arrives at Faewald filling the Farm and dropping its crews off for shore leave, departs for Doinean on December 16 and is harvesting again a week later. FHG X makes Faewald orbit on December 6 and the crews will enjoy the holiday on world this year. Terraforming of Calheme's atmospher to reduce its oxygen level continues.

Biforst's Industrial park churns out more lifesupport and housing prefabs for 0.44 m colonists infrastructure x88 eventual use. Demand is lower than supply as the colony has consistantly invested to produce these elements based on the experience from Faewald. It is a rather slow year for Biforst as the ships that usually stop here are now only pausing off loading their cargo and then heading on to Rosetta to pick up Alien technology for transport back to Earth. FHG VIII arrives at Biforst on Febuary 5, recovers the last of the crew on March 18 and is back harvesting on March 20. FHG VII arrives in Biforst orbit on September 22, the crew is finished with shore leave on November 1 and is back harvesting the day after.

Poesidean continues to grow, though it is clearly now lagging behind Arborea for all that it was established earlier. It's industrial park continues to work on the teleoeprated heavy mining machinery needed to expand the mine delivering Duranium and Corrundium to the planet via mass driver. FHG XI arrives on April 9, the ships break orbit on May 18 and are back harvesting on the next day. ICG VIII arrives on September 18 and departs for Forge on October 10.

Over the year the industrial park on Rosetta produces enough extra lifesupport and prefabricated housing for 0.26 m people Infastructure x52 which is mothballed against future need. The industrial park is largely of alien manufacture at this point as are a significant portion of the mine machinery. FHG IX arrives in Rosetta orbit on May 24 and on June 30 the ships break orbit arriving on station at the gas giant (planet VI) on July 7. Troop Transport Mission 1 arrives on July 18 with the Brigades LTR Bn and departs on August 25. Heavy Lift Group II arrives on November 2 and departs for Forge fully loaded with alien technology and more of the alien research facilities on November 16.
2303 (April 7) 1st NC Construction Bde has recovered 1x Geological Survey Sensors
2303 (June 20) 1st NC Construction Bde has recovered an abandoned automated mine
2303 (September 15) 1st NC Construction Bde has attempted to recover an alien installation on Rosetta but the installation was beyond repair
2303 (September 29) 1st NC Construction Bde has recovered 19x 90 EP Ion Drives this discovery is an astounding find as the NCC has just begun research into Ion Drives and having 19 examples of a working drive to study will speed up the process.
2303 (November 16) 1st NC Construction Bde has recovered an abandoned automated mine
2303 (November 21) 1st NC Construction Bde has recovered an abandoned Genetic Modification Centre. This discovery is greeted by shock and horror. It is clear by the discovery of this abomination and the terraformers that the aliens had modified the environment of Rosetta plus tinkered with the lifeforms there. This pretty much ends the constant low level protest about the plans to remove the Methane from the atmosphere once news reaches Earth. A few dire hard environmental groups still continue to protest this action but for most this discovery ends the debate. Interesting enough the summer afterwards the facility is featured in no less than 3 summer blockbuster films.
