I will put a general figure out there. Unlimited bandwidth and unlimited drive space with unlimited CPU usage (what killed the last host) is not really cheap. As Kurt mentioned, it is substantially higher than $150 a year. The costs for 2021 are around $1100 (price went up from last year :( ). The last few years I have had an anonymous donor donate the bulk of it. This individual wishes to remain anonymous, so they will, unless they out themselves. That being said, to ease the burden on this person, I still would like to have others donate too. I know 2020 has been a hard year for all of us, but Aurora/SFA is a good escape from reality :)

I have contemplated some form of subscription thing, but no idea what could be used as incentive.

I wouldnt be against of a patreon or sort kind of thing.

Even a one off it's fine.

I second that and it would be a shame to have Erik pays money in addition to his time managing the forum.

Just to get the order of things, we are looking at how much a year? Something like 150$?

Seconded request of a figure per year.

I'm not sure Erik wants to put a figure out there, but I'm sure it's significantly more than that.  More than any one of us should have to pay on our own.

If anyone wants to contribute to hosting costs of the forums, any donation would be appreciated. Of course, none is necessary.

You can donate for this to eluken@pentarch.org on paypal. This is just for hosting. Donating for Aurora should be done to Steve directly.

I want to take a second to thank Erik for all of the work he does for us on this forum.  This year has sucked on many levels, and, at least for me, this forum has been an important escape that has helped keep me on a more or less even keel.

It would mean a lot if everyone who has enjoyed Aurora, Starfire Assistant, or any of the fiction on this forum pitched in to help defray Erik's costs that he incurs keeping this forum up and running.  If everyone pitched in, we could help keep this forum going so that we can all continue to enjoy the game and the great stories that all of the authors are creating.  Even a little would help!
