Author Notes: This was on version 1.5.1 since then I have started the new game on 1.7.3 and as such there will be no new updates to this thread, so please be aware of that.

Year: 2170

January:

The first year of humanities ascension to the stars commences thanks to the UNSC - Promise of Dawn, UNSC - Tannenberg, UNSC - Saratoga and UNSC - Savannah, from which they will now begin their journey from earth and begin a gravitational and geological survey of the sol system,  Venus is rich in resources, but the rest of the system is deemed "lacking" by high command, this will likely push humanity to move outside of the solar system quicker to be able to fund its efforts, even so Venus much be established as a colony, the only Sorium as well in the system is on Neptune which is quite far away from Earth, it is not ideal but it is the only Sorium outside of earth so two fuel harvester stations are to be tugged there immediately.
Luna is also identified for an immediate colony and as such the terraforming stations are sent to begin immediate water vapour dumps into the atmosphere for preparation of turning it into a breathable and life giving world.

February - December

Not much to report for the rest of the year, the UNSC Carrier Strike Group has been moved to train near Luna as well as gravitational and geological surveys have been completed of the entire sol system, two gravitational jump points have been detected, once all survey frigates have returned back to Earth to resupply they will be sent off to explore these jump points, in the mean time the UNSC - Dawanger is in construction, another survey frigate will be mighty useful with how many jump points there now are.

First step into the wider universe

Year: 2171

Summary: In the Year several important steps have taken place in the UEG, first the exploration of the first Jump point leading to another system, the colonisation and founding of the first civilian shipping lanes, and the completion of multiple researches into better slip-space drives.

January - March

On the 18th of March, The first jump using a slip-space drive occurred, as the captain of the UNSC - Tannenberg, Commander Josiah Hackleman ordered for his crew to active the slip-space drive at the edge of the jump point as were his orders from the UNSC - Office of Naval Intelligence, the UNSC - Tannenberg spun up its slip-space drive and as it reached its apex it catapulted light years away from Sol to the system of Proxima Centauri, first discovered in 1915 by Scottish scientist Robert Innes, now 255 Years later the system would finally be fully surveyed and its secrets found for Humanity.

After the successful jump reached back to the UEG, the President made a national address to the nation, in that address he praised commander Hackleman and awarded him with the Colonial Cross and wished him luck in unlocking the secrets of the newly accessed system, the President also addressed a few other things such as the foundation of a new organisation the Colonial Administration Authority, currently the colonisation efforts of the UEG fall under the UNSC, the president believing that a administration solely focused on colonising will be important, said that the CAA will take over all colonisation efforts as well as colony ships, freighters and small token garrison forces.

The UNSC's Admiral Andrea South (Fleet Commander for all UNSC Naval Assets) welcomed the change stating that the UNSC would welcome and assist the CAA in any and all things that they require, and that the UNSC will be hoping to work closely with the CAA in all regards.

The newly emboldened Commander Hackleman ordered for the ship to begin a geological survey of the inner planets in the system, Proxima Centuauri-A had six planet sized objects as well as three moons and two comets, the planets would be the first priority, on the 20th of March he would discover the atmospheric as well as mineral composition of Proxima Centauri-A IV as well as the other planets in the system, he immediately sent the mineral and atmospheric report to The Office of Naval Intelligence, below you can see that report.

Comet #2
     Vendarite 13 900   Acc 0.7
     Uridium 58 344   Acc 0.7

Atmospheric Report:

The first two planets "Proxima Centauri-A I and II" are Venusian like planets with temperatures on the second planet reaching above 1000 degree Celsius, they also contain no atmosphere, however the third and fourth planets are more interesting the third planet is only 73 degree celcius as well as having acceptable gravity of 0.1, it is capable of retaining an atmosphere and would only require for water and an atmosphere to be put into place, is very much akin to Luna in these regards, but the fourth planet is very special, it actually has liquid in its hydro sphere, forty percent of it in fact, which means water is already available, Nitrogen also takes up 72% of the atmosphere while methane takes up 27%, if the methane was removed in favour of Oxygen this planet could be easily colonised, it was also 4/5ths the size of Earth and has a gravity of 0.54, this would be a great 1st colony in the immediate solar systems around Sol.

The 5th planet int he system, already had a workable atmosphere, containing 32% oxygen and 69% Nitrogen but unfortunately it has a gravity of 1.93 and a diameter of 24,000 which means it is not able to be colonised by humans, as anything human that goes close to that will have double the gravity pulling on their body causing them to be less then productive. The Sixth planet has no atmosphere, but a Ice sheet in the hydrosphere which could be melted to gain access to the water, it was a frozen world of -66c but in due time if required it could be colonised.

On the 28th of March the Second system to be jumped to was discovered, "Tau Ceti" a massive system of 2.4bkm in diameter, it was Commander Marlon Studebaker who would command the UNSC - Tannenberg and immediately reported back as well as stated his intentions to geologically survey all the bodies in the system.

On the 7th of April the geological survey was completed, attached below is the mining report of the Tau, Ceti system

Mineral Report
Tau Ceti-A I
     Boronide 6 661 561   Acc 0.1
     Uridium 4 239 481   Acc 0.7
     Corundium 1 857 769   Acc 0.1

Tau Ceti-A III
     Duranium 11 568 050   Acc 0.4
     Corbomite 40 576 900   Acc 0.1
     Vendarite 16 769 025   Acc 0.1

Atmospheric report:

Only one interesting planet was discovered, the earth sized planet of Tau Ceti-A II which had a liquid hydrosphere of 53%, and a nitrogen - methane atmosphere, 83% Nitrogen and 16% Methane, all that would need to be done is the methane removed and oxygen put in place, and the temperature reduced from 92c to 21-30c and it would be a ideal colony for the UEG, the other two planets were Venusian rocks and nothing important to report.

Colonial Administrations Authority Response: After the discovery of these two systems and the founding of the organisation itself, the CAA immediately ordered jump tenders and tankers to be organised for access to these systems, as well as more colony ships and freighters to be made sometime in the future, but in the meantime Luna and Mars would be more important as they were closer and Luna was already being terraformed by the Pre CAA forces.

On the 1st of June the first colonists would arrive on Luna after UNSC Logistics command had infrastructure moved to the moon a year prior, they would be the first people on mass to live not on Earth but rather a solar body, it would be a hard time ahead for them until the terraformers would allow the infrastructure to be removed but it was deemed an important effort as Luna not only provided great scientific and economic potential it also secretly had a great strategic purpose in the UNSC's plan, that plan would not be relieved for now.

On the 6th of July the first civilian shipping line was launched "Readnour Transport Limited" and then two days later the first civilian colony ship was launched and began immediately colonial operations, one of the reasons the CAA developed was to allow the organisation and guidance to these civilian assets, as a Military organisation controlling civilian companies would not pass well in the senate or in the private sector.

On the 1st of August, the UNSC - Saratoga under the Command of Brendan Fedor jumped to Sigma Draconis, he jumped to the system from Proxima Centauri, it was gravitational surveyed shortly after it was first geologically surveyed, the system was nothing of note, it was a Quaternary Star System, consisting of four stars of varying type but did not contain any other planetary bodies as such a gravitational survey was commenced immediately.

New Horizons, New Worlds

Year: 2172

Summary: In the Year 2172 more important steps were taken, first the discovery of several new colonies, Sigma Draconis, Centaurus, Savannah, Shaka, Hector. The first Jinx class jump stabilisation station was constructed, two UNSC Destroyers move to Proxima Centauri and deploy marine forces to the best colony world.

January - May

Centaurus was discovered by CDR Marlon on the 17th of May while Savannah was discovered by Galen Reos on the 28th of May,  Centaurus was a small system with two planets, one moon and two comets, the only worlds that could be colonised were frozen over and would take years to make worth colonisation efforts, only some iridium was found in the system, no mineral report or atmospheric report was deemed notable to release.  Savannah on the other hand has 11 planets and 86 moons, seven of the moons of the second planet in the system which is a gas giant, are capable of sustaining colonies at Luna level, they merely require atmosphere to be good colony worlds, below is the mineral and atmospheric report for Savannah.

I have designated this system as Mineral Priority Two, and suggest it be used for mining operations over colonial as the colonisable moons are small in size but the mineral deposits found all over the system could be collected and transported back to sol with relatively little effort, high deposits of Neutronium, Gallicite and Boronide are located within the system dispersed among the moons and planets,  other smaller deposits of minerals are located within the system, all this evidence suggests that jump points should be stabilised to this system as soon as possible and its resources be used to supply the new colony on proxima centauri and Earth itself.

Atmospheric Report:

The Third planet within the system is the only planet with a reasonable atmospheric, it also has an ice Sheet of 32%, a Nitrogen - CO2 atmosphere, 97.319% of the atmosphere is Nitrogen while 2% is Carbon Dioxide, as well as 0.695% is Argon, temperatures go into the negatives 100s and the gravity is a little under 0.5 of Earths, it is not tidal locked and it can support 5.2 billion people with a diameter of 8,452.

- Commander Marlon Studebaker

Colonial Administrations Authority Response: After the discovery and suggestions made by the commanders of the survey groups the CAA, announced that Savannah would be designated for civilian and government mining operations as well as the establishment of colony worlds on the third planet in the system as well as the second planets moons, while Centaurus would be handed over to the UNSC for military operations.

The system of shaka contains high deposits of corbomite, duranium, and vendarite as well as many other materials, it is in my opinion that this system be designated as Mineral Priority two and it be setup as a colony/mining system as it contains two planets capable of supporting earth like populations and atmospheres as well as huge mineral deposits all over the system.

Atmospheric Report:

The third planet is the most exciting it has an Ice Sheet of 89%,  a atmosphere of nitrogen - oxygen, with 72% Nitrogen at 0.35 atm and 24% Oxygen at 0.118, it has a temperature of -78c, it also has a gravity 0.7 of Earths it is a ideal target for colonisation, being about  25% bigger than earth, it can sustain around 7.3 Billion people, it is also not tidal locked, all of this causes the terrain to resemble massive Rift Valleys, it is in this commanders opinion this world be colonised as soon as possible, in other news the fourth planet has an atmosphere, with a 46% Ice shiet and a nitrogen - methane atmosphere of 79% Nitrogen at 0.15 atm and Methane of 21% at 0.42 atm, it is almost twice as cold as the third planet at -144c, and has a gravity of 0.447, it is a future potential candidate for colonisation with a max population supported of 6.2 billion and a diameter of 9,200.

-Commander Marlon Studebaker

On the 12th of august the 1st Jinx class jump stabilisation station is taken into orbit of the proxima centauri jump point, this jump point must be stabilised if the system is to be a new and major colony world, Shaka is also a top priority system in this chain of systems to reach.

On the 6th of September - 11th of September, the UNSC Clearidas and UNSC Bunker Hill are ordered by UNSC High command to the system of Proxima Centauri , the Bunker Hill is to be left on the best colonisable world and deposit two platoons of marines on the planets surface to setup initial infrastructure and begin security preparations for the civilian colonists, the Bunker Hill is commanded by Commander Wilbert Teaff,  he is now responsible for the safe guarding of the system against all threats, his ship is now formed into the first of many defence groups, a support class vessel was also sent to provide supply to forces within the area.

Once the UNSC Bunker Hill has been delivered the UNSC Clearidas returns to Sol.

On the 5th of October the system of Hector is discovered by Survey Group Echo commanded by Commander Lorenzo Busack, the system is a binary star system with no bodies orbiting either stars, as such no report of atmospheric or geological sort is made to UNSC Command.

Through the rest of the Year more construction is done and jump points begin being stabilised, Survey groups continue gravitational and geological surveys and new ships are being brought up to extend the CAAs abilities.

On the 19th of June, 196 Financial centres were moved to Luna, this provides new jobs for the now 20,000,000 population of Luna and to also help the UEGs financial situation, expenditure is currently overtaking income by about 1,200, more Financial centres are in construction.

August:

On the 12th of August, Epsilon Eridani discovered, it contains a single star and nothing else, as such no mineral or atmospheric report was filed.

On the 19th of August, Epsilon Indi discovered, it is a binary star system and contains only a single gas giant.

September:

On the 7th of September, two UNMC Battalions finished training one earth, the seventh and eighth respectively

On the 16th of September, the first ever civilian mining operation commenced on "Quinn" Mines.

November:

On the 3rd of November, Wolf 424 was discovered, it is a binary star system with Wolf 424-A containing 5 planets, 37 moons and Wolf 424-B, contains 8 planets, 43 moons and 239 asteroids, there are no near colonisable worlds orbiting either star, and mineral quantities are minimal.

On the 25th of November, Galloways star was discovered, it is a binary star system, containing four planets, the first planet of the first star has a small atmosphere of carbon and sulphur dioxide and is barely habitable but it also features what can only be described as unusual stellar radiation, it is unsure what is causing this but the CAA, has designated this world for further study. The other worlds are near habitable with one terrestrial planet and two dwarf planets, nothing more was reported besides the fact the 1st planet has 1.00 access 25,000,000 Titanium which will supply an entire sector alone.

Inner Expansion, Production Advancement

Year: 2174

Summary:In the year 2174 the finalisation of the steps taken in the year prior were set as the next priority, with the first terraforming stations being tugged into orbit of the new extrasolar colonies in proxima centauri and tau ceti, as well as the first colonists arriving at both of these colonies, and the stabilisation of the first two jump points to Tau Ceti and Proxima Centauri, as well as the complete of multiple UNSC Military vessels and CAA Commercial vessels to allow the UEG to continue its rapid expansion, while in comparison to earlier years 2174 was a slow down in exploration with all the original survey groups from 2170 have finished their initial deployment and were recalled to begin immediate overhauls, these ships will not be seeing a refit for the next six years.

No major map changes were made in the year as such I have attached a summary of all populations the UEG currently control as well as all of the Ships in the UEG.

January - June

On the 1st of January, in January the 1st terra-forming station was tugged into orbit of the newly designated "Tannenberg" Colony or the IV planet of the Proxima Centauri system, it was named after the ship that first surveyed the planet gave it, its original designation.

On the 4th of May the Sol-Proxima Jump point is finally stabilised, taking 720 days it was finally stabilised on both ends by the 1st Jinx class stabilisation station, this will now allow the transfer of civilian and heavier military assets between Earth and Tannenberg, this is one of the most important steps in the establishment of permanent facilities and colonies on extrasolar worlds, President John Lasky had a few words to say following this announcement:

"I am pleased with the progress of the newly formed CAA and will be looking to further expand it, and I rejoice that our private sector can now provide resources and supplies to our new colony Tannenberg"

On the 16th of May, the first colonists arrive on Tannenberg and begin preparations to prepare permanent settlement on the planet after the CAA logistics forces landed one million colonists to jump start the planets economy and progress, the CAA prepared a quick statement upon the announcement of the first extrasolar citizens:

"It is the purpose and reason for the Colonial Administration Authority, to seed new worlds with life and to bring forward the advancement of human Colonisation, we have done so on Tannenberg, we congratulate the hard working Civilian and Military personnel in their work to see this effort through."

On the 4th of June, one Pole class destroyer was constructed, the UNSC - Ardent Virtue, once fully completed it was ordered by the UNSC to move to Tau Ceti with the UNSC - Monte Cassimo

On the 14th of June, the UNSC Manta Class Corvette Bellerophon is constructed on Earth.

On the 23rd of June, 19 days later, the destroyer group arrives, with the UNSC - Monte Cassimo deploying one platoon of marines while the UNSC - Ardent Virtue moves back to earth, a Galaxy class ship also arrives at the same time to provide maintenance and supply to the system, this is the first step to the colonisation of a world.

July:

On the 20th of July the first CAA ships head to the newly named colony in Tau Ceti "Studebaker" and deliver a payload of infrastructure, the colony was named Studebaker after the Commander who discovered the planet and designated it for a possible colony.

August:

On the 3rd of August, the UNSC - Defiance (Magellan) is constructed, it is immediately ordered to bring one UNA Infantry Battalion to Tannenberg to take over garrison duty from the UNSC Marine platoon on the surface, as well as a geology team to the fifth planet in the system due to minimal potential for more resources from the orbital survey.

On the 18th of August, two Orca class picket corvettes finished construction, the UNSC - Chevalier, and UNSC - Glamorgan

September:

On the 23rd of September, the second jinx class stabilisation station completes the tau ceti stabilisation link to sol, providing a valuable connection to sol and as it completes the CAA announces the first private venture to the Studebaker colony.

On the 26th of September, Luna becomes a fully habitable world, with the water vapour now at 20% in the atmosphere and it containing a oxygen atmosphere, this formed a desert like structure around Luna with some spare lakes and rivers but mostly a Terran resembling that of sub Saharan africa, while it might not be the most pleasant compared to the original Luna this is a massive step up and breakthrough in terms of both Luna itself and the entire field of Biology and Terra forming, Luna can now grow unimpeded and all life support infrastructure has been moved away from Luna.

October:

On the 31st of October, the first colonists arrive on studebaker, the Tannenberg naval assets pickup the marines on the surface of Tannenberg that were stationed there nearly three years ago now as the UNA has taken over garrison duty with the 1st UNA Infantry Battalion arriving earlier in the year.

November:

On the 10th of November, the UNSC - Marlon (Falcon) and UNSC - Severance (Bordeaux) Finish construction on Earth, the Marlon is named after Commander Marlon Studebaker.

December:

On the 28th of December, the UNSC - Promise of Dawn completes her overhaul, her and her sisters were sent into overhaul earlier this year and she will be the first survey frigate to finish its overhaul, it will serve another four years of constant exploration before needing another overhaul.

On the 31st of December, the UNSC - Baranger (Promise of Dawn) compeltes construction, it is immediately ordered to a frontier system to begin surveying.

Quick Author Update: I will not be restarting with 1.6.3 just yet, I atleast want to get to the ten year mark, and or 2.0. But if a crash occurs that ruins the campaign or makes it unplayable then yes I will restart, if the restart happens it will be like when I went from 1.3 to 1.5.1

Outer Expansion, Exciting Discoveries

Year: 2175

Summary: The year 2175 was a year of preparation for larger colonies as well as a year of rapid and quick expansion in the galaxy, with the new designations of the Prroxima Chain and the Tau Ceti Chain as well as the designation of systems as frontier and inner worlds, and the priority designation in terms of defence and colonisation, it also saw the construction of many ships and the realisation of the UNSC that they needed to increase ship production tenfold, as the true majesty of the galaxy was yet to be known with only 15 systems discovered out of a possible million or more! As such it was decided that expansion needed to be rapid especially in securing new mineral deposits to fuel the ship production.

It also saw a major discovery which could catapult the UEG to the forefront of technology, without it the next generation of MAC the MAC MKII was expected to be fully developed nearly twenty years in the future, other tech was also taking a long period of time.

January - May

In January - Commander Albert Schulenberg of the UNSC - Baranger discovers the system of Alpha Aurigae, it has a single star and no other bodies as such no mineral or atmospheric report was made.

On April 21st, the UNSC Logistics command under the direction of the CAA, order a cargo shuttle station as well as two deep space tracking stations to the Studebaker colony in Tau Ceti, these installations will allow the colony to load supplies more quicker as well as detect any bodies or contacts entering or leaving the system.

On April the 23rd, the supplies arrived and unloaded immediately, once complete the marines on the planet were sent back to the UNSC - Monte Cassimo in orbit.

On the 8th of May, the system Corvi-A is discovered by Commander Marlon Studerbaker, it contains a single F0-V class spectral star, and 6 planets, 58 moons, as well as four near habitable worlds.

On the 16th of May, the construction of the UNSC - Draconis (Sigma Class) Completes, Captain Donnel Moret is put in command.

June:

On the 22nd of June, more than a month later, the UNSC - Tannenberg under the command of CDR Marlon Studebaker finish a complete geological survey of the system as well as atmospheric, they discover what some in the scientific community back on Earth a statistical improbability on the third planet in the system  and that is the discovery of a destroyed, and what can only be described with "Alien" outpost, this came as a shock to all of the UEG when it reached back to the nearest colony with a advanced communications array on the colony Studebaker, within the next few days High command did not know what to do with this news, but finally came to a decision, they would start the immediate construction of more military vessels as well as the organisation of a Strike group to go to the system and secure it against all contacts as well as do a full sensor sweep in the event the aliens who destroyed the outpost are still around.

Attached Below is the Mineral as well as Atmospheric , and a basic report of the destroyed structures they found and all evidence pertaining it to being aliens

Mineral Report:

Alpha Corvi-A I
     Duranium 3 200   Acc 1.0
     Neutronium 739 600   Acc 0.6

     Duranium 9 522   Acc 1.0
     Neutronium 4 096   Acc 1.0
     Corundium 441   Acc 1.0

It is in my opinion that the system of Alpha Corvi-A provides a moderate amount of accessible minerals, the most important thing is that it contains all the minerals to potentially build any single one thing, as such due to the later atmospheric report I immediately suggest this system be turned into a colony system.

-Commander Marlon Studebaker of the UNSC - Tannenberg

Atmospheric Report:

In the system there are four close to habitable worlds, two terrestrial planets as well as two Moons

The second planet in the system  is prime for a colony not only does it have water, it also has a atmosphere of 96% Nitrogen and 3% oxygen if the oxygen was increased this world could be habitable, but it would also have to be cooled as it is a scorching 78c which causes the planet to effectively be a desert world, it also has a gravity of 0.92 of earths, with a diameter of 13,600, allowing it to sustain a max population capacity of 13.64 billion.

The third planet in the system is the planet which contains the Alien outpost it also has a Nitrogen - Oxygen atmosphere of 65% Nitrogen and 35% Oxygen, if the oxygen was lowered the atmosphere would become breathable, it is however the direct opposite of the second planet and is a frozen tundra with a temperature of -72c, as such it needs to be warmed up, but once both of these actions are met it will allow this world to become an extremely good world, able to sustain 12.85 billion people with a diameter of 13,200 and a gravity 0.68 of Earths.

The Two moons which orbit the third planet are akin the Luna and could be colonised and terra-formed if required.

Commander log of CDR Marlon Studebaker during discovery of the Alpha Corvi-A III System: (now designated as the Alpha Corvi-A Aliens due to the system the outpost was found in).

Commander Log, Date: 22nd of June, 2175. We have entered orbit of the third planet of the newly designated Alpha Corvi-A system, I have ordered my science officer to begin immediate scans of the surface below as well as an atmospheric analysis, the world appears to be a frozen world from what preliminary observations we have made, will report once geological and atmospheric scans have been completed.

Commander Log, Date: 25th of June, 2175, Scans have indicated a plenitude of low access minerals as well as a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere but most important of all, in a... I cannot believe it myself what can only be described as a "Alien Outpost" of some kind has been found on the surface, I plan to take a team down with a squad of UNMC marines to investigate under the advisement of Lieutenant Lance Davies, will continue once we have landed.

Commander Log, Date: 4:32 PM, 25th of June, 2175, We have landed, myself, a squad of UNSC Marines, Lieutenant Davies, and three scientists including my science officer. We are moving towards the alien ruins on foot, currently 100m out from the structure it appears at-least from a distance that there is a primary structure in the middle with some kind of pulsating energy coming out the top while what must be 30m away from it in all directions are these structures that look like landing pads, we are on our way to the main structure now.

Commander Log, Date: 4:33 PM, 25th of June, 2175, We have reached the outpost, Lieutenant Davies has requested his marines perform a perimeter sweep as well as secure the building before scientific readings are taken, I have granted this request at the dismay of my science officer, once the area is secure and the Lieutenant has given me the all clear, I let me scientists know and they move into the outpost with eagerness, once inside I observe strange markings on the walls and some kind of metallic coating that makes the structure appear purple/pink it seems to coat every last piece of it besides the obvious weapon impacts, I have decided to check on the damage of the structure as my science officer is already there I ask him what he thinks could of done this and he advises me that most likely a energy blast from orbit, he tells me he is honestly surprised its even intact let alone standing, these alloys must be made out of something extremely strong.

Commander Log, Date: 4:50 PM, 25th of June, 2175, it has been seventeen minutes since we first reached the outpost so far no signs of hostile contacts, we have made some  progress in taking structural and perimeter scans as well as some basic knowledge of the structure, it has been estimated that the structure sustained the energy impacts over twenty years ago according to our star dates, which explains there being no aliens or alien bodies here, we have a schedule to run and as such we have decided to leave the world for now and analyse the data on the ship as well as report back immediately to UNSC Command, Commander Studebaker out.

Commander Marlon Studebaker would be awarded with his second colonial cross for discovering the first evidence for Alien Life

July:

On the 6th of July, the UNSC - Dawanger and the UNSC - Savannah complete their overhauls in orbit of Earth, these ships will now continue their mission to explore the galaxy for another four years.

On the 14th of July, the 2nd UNA Infantry Battalion arrives on the Studebaker colony and relives the previous marine garrison forces, they immediately begin digging in.

August:

On the 6th of August: deep space tracking stations and cargo shuttle stations were transported to a habitable moon in the Savannah star system in preparation for further inhabited colonies on the moon.

September:

On the 21st of September, the third galaxy class support vessel finished construction and will be used to allow military and colonial assets to reach new worlds, in conjunction with that UNSC Flet Command organises a strike group to be sent to Alpha Corvi-A III, it will be designed to unload forces on the planet as well as do a perimeter sweep and secure the system, below are the ships the strike group are comprised of:

1x Bordeaux class frigate - UNSC Severance
1x Chitin Class Frigate - UNSC Commonwealth
1x Manta Class Picket Corvette - UNSC Bellerophon
2x Orca Class Picket Corvettes - UNSC Chevallier, UNSC Glamorgan

October:

On the 24th of October, the UNSC - Light of Dawn, an endurance class heavy cruiser is constructed in orbit of Earth and it will be commanded by Captain Jarvix Forehand

November:

On the 22nd of November, nearly two months later the UNSC Strikegroup reached the planet and unloaded two platoons from the UNSC - Severance, one weapon platoon and one infantry platoon, due to the long travel distance the UNSC Strikegroup is below 1/4th of its available fuel, thankfully tankers and jump tenders have been setup to support the fleet in the coming year, as two more jump tenders are instructed to move to the jump points in line with the jump point to alpha corvi-A, while high command understand this is a big commitment it also understands what could be gained from the alien technology and backs this order even though it will slow colonial expansion in the proxima chain until more Jump tender can be constructed.

Quick Author Update: I have been toying with the idea that once this campaign is done, I will be doing a youtube series either based off this AAR or a Crusade AAR, this would be a narrative playthrough and I am currently wondering how many people might be interested in something like that, please reply in the comments thread, thank you! Have a nice day.

Outer Expansion, Slip-space lanes and the second phase of exploration

Year: 2176

Summary: The year 2176 was a period of jump stabilisation expansion with one quarter of the known galaxy now being either connected by a jump stabilised jump point or soon to be stabilised point, this period came after the UNSC was ordered by president Laskey to gain control of and extract as well as decipher the alien technology in Alpha Corvi-A, in other news it was also a period of construction and more permanent settlements as well as the continued expansion of humanity across the universe.

Attached below is the current galactic map as known by the UEG in the year 2176

January - April:

January - 23rd, 23 Librae is discovered by Commander Albert Schulenberg, it is a single star, system with only three comets in the local are as such no mineral or atmospheric report was filed.

January - 28th, 26 Draconis is discovered by Commander Brendon Fedor, similar to 23 Librae it is a single star, system with a total of ten comets in the local area and like 23 Librae this was why no mineral or atmospheric report was filed.

January - 31st, the UNSC Logistics command is ordered to move mines from Earth to the Tannenberg colony in Proxima Centauri, this will allow the mining of duranium and will be the first extrasolar mining operation in UEG history.

February - 28th, CE-2-1239 Is discovered by Commander Marlon Studebaker, it a single, star system with five planets, 30 moons, 43 asteroids and two near habitable worlds, part of the hector arm this system would be a useful colony in the future, commander Marlon reports on the geological and atmospheric nature of the system.

It is within my opinion and the opinion of the my science officer that this system contains a useful albeit small supply of high access vendarite as well a supply of sorium, thus this system should not be designated for a mining system instead it should be designated as a world for pure colonial expansion.

-Commander Marlon Studebaker

Atmospheric report:

In the system there are are two close to habitable planets, a terrestrial planet and a dwarf planet, the terrestrial planet has a surface akin to Luna or Mars but is extremely hot at 247c, as such it would take a long time for it to be fully habitable, it can sustain a population of 286 million people, with a gravity of 0.4 and a diameter of 4,400, it is also tidal locke which does not make it a good candidate for colonisation at least at the start in the system.

The dwarf planet on the other hand is similar to mars in two aspects, one its surface is barren, and two it has a Ice sheet on the north and south pole of the planet, it is much smaller then the first planet with estimates putting the max population this world cold sustain at 189 million people, it would also require low gravity infrastructure due to its gravity of 0.068 of earths, so while it has water it would still require specialised equipment to fully utilise.

It is in this commanders opinion that the dwarf planet is the best chance for permanent settlement in the system, due to its Ice sheet and the much more tolerable temperature, its low gravity does cause concern but this can be overcome with specialise equipment.

-Commander Marlon Studebaker

April - 5th, UNSC logistics command finishes delivering thirty mines to the Tannenberg colony, these will now begin mining and provide duranium, logistics command has also set a cargo ship to begin delivering shipments of duranium from the colony which will supply Earth with much needed material for the ship building and infrastructure efforts. This also has the bonus of providing jobs to the the now 5 million population which can now provide more taxes to the UEG.

April - 24th, A tanker reaches Alpha-Corvi-A III and begins refueling the UNSC Strikegroup in orbit with much needed fuel, once the fuel has been offload the UNSC Fleet begins a perimeter sweep of the system and finds no aliens in the immediate area, satisfied they head back to the third planet.

June:

June - 23rd, Brendon Fedor discovers the system of Charybdis, the system contains six planets, sixty one moons and two near habitable worlds, it is a part of the Galloways Cluster located in the South eastern part of the galaxy, commander Brendon Fedor reports on the system are attached below.

As you can see here in this mineral report the various worlds of this system are of great value to the UEG as a whole, with deposits of almost every kind of mineral and at high accessibility, it is imperative that the UNSC Colonise this system if we are to increase shipyard and ship production more than we already are, it is in my opinion that this system should be designated as a "Mining System - Priority 2".

-Commander Brendon Fedor

Atmospheric Report:

The system contains various near habitable bodies, but most of these are tidally locked moons with no atmosphere and little gravity as such the only world that is of note to the UEG is the planet of Charybdis-A III as it is designated, it has a hydrosphere of 80% Ice which could be melted to almost raise the temps to habitable, current surface temps reach a max of -52c, it can also sustain a max population 1/12ths of Earths, it also has two moons which could be colonised for nearby trade and growth, it is also the only planet in the system not tidally locked meaning that it is the best possible target for terraforming, as such it is in my opinion that this world be the first colonised in the system and that terraformers move there immediately.

-Commander Brendon Fedor

October:

October - 16th, Commander Houston Chadwick discovers the system of Chi Ceti in the Galloways Cluster,  it is a single star, system that contains eight planets, and forty-nine moons, it contains two worlds that with enough time could be colonised, attached below Commander Houston Chadwick reports on the mineral and atmospheric composition of the system.

It is in my opinion that the system of Chi-Ceti is like that of Gaul in ancient antiquity a place ripe for the taking, its minerals stores are vast and plump but unlike Gaul it is completely undefended, our sacrifice for taking them instead of bodies will be time and energy which is almost as bad from some peoples view points, it contains high access sorium reserves as well as high access minerals of all different types which can be used for a variety of applications.

-Commander Houston Chadwick

Atmospheric Report:

The system holds two possible worlds for terra-forming, the 1st and 4th moon of the 3rd planet, they orbit a gas giant, the first is a frozen iceball with 74% of the hydrosphere being an Ice sheet and temperatures reaching -134, it also contains a Nitrogen-Oxygen atmosphere with the added factor of Flourine in the mix, 84% Nitrogen - 155 Oxygen - 0.4% Flourine, the fourth moon is in a similar situation but with only a hydrosphere of 2% Ice sheet  as well as the same NNitrogen-Oxygen atmosphere with 74% Nitrogen - 23% Oxygen - 1.8% C02,  it is also tidle locked and has 0.5 gravity of Earth.

It is in my opinion as the writer of this report that this system would not be ideal for permanent settlement and must instead be designated as a mining system with partial settlement until the mineral reserves have been exhausted.

Outer Expansion, Tragedy strikes

Year:2177

UNSC - Report
(Prior to December 3rd)

Summary:The year 2177 is a year of major developments with the Hector arm now getting enough jump stabilisation stations to fully stabilise the route to Alpha-Corvi III as well as the discovery of new star system, Cordoba, and Cygnus respectively. Production was also increased as well as the formation and use of engineering companies to begin garrisoning worlds and the development of new design and technologies. The year also saw the establishment of the Central Command system, as we discover more worlds it is imperative to lay groundwork to not only colonise but to organise naval fleets across light years of space as such the CENTCOM system was developed to allow centralised command in manageable sectors.

January - March

February - 5th, Commander Brendan Feder discovers a new connection to the known system of Shaka from Wolf 424, this now means that the Centaurus Cluster is fully enclosed and any hostile forces would have to go through proxima centauri, this is a major development as the three systems in the cluster have the potential to provide a lot of resources to the UEG.

February - 14th, Commander Galen Reos discovers the system of Cordoba, it s a trinary star system, with two planets, two moons and twenty asteroids orbiting the first star, with one near habitable world, it was not deemed of high enough importance to write a full mineral or atmospheric report on the system as such a partial mineral report was filed instead.

March - 17th, Commander Marlon Studebaker of the UNSC - Tannenberg discovers the system of Cygnus, it is another trinary star system with five planets and three moons, four planets orbit the first star while one planet orbits the second star, UNSC lost contact with Commander Studebaker shortly after he entered the system so no mineral or atmospheric report was able to be transmitted from the UNSC - Tannenberg.

UNSC - Tannenberg
(April 21st-22nd)

Commander Log, Date: 21st of April, 2177: We have just entered the newly designated star system "cygnus" it appears to be a trinary star system with multiple terrestrial planets around the first star while a single planet orbits around the second star, my science officer has advised me that the fourth planet of the first star could support life as initial observations have shown a world not too unlike Earth and under my science officers advisement I am taking the UNSC - Tannenberg to the fourth planet as he has convinced me it is imperative to perform a geological survey of the planet as it could be a useful world for the UEG in the future, will report back once we have entered orbit.

Commander Log, Date: 06:00 hours, 21st of April, 2177: It is incredible... I cannot believe it myself but all readings indicate that my science officer is correct, we have detected sonar as well as electromagnetic signals from the fourth planet, this can mean only one thing as there is no UNSC Settlement out this far and that is alien life, it is the only possible answer, as the sonar contacts were coming in I had my radar officer reconfirm it at-least five times, without fail he confirmed it every single time, at this point I am unsure on how to proceed I will consult with my bridge crew and prepare a response immediately, will report back once we have come to a decision.

Commander Log, Date: 06:40 hours, 21st of April, 2177: After the contacts were detected and then reconfirmed by my radar officer I have come to the decision with the advisement of my officers, Marine Lieutenant Davies suggested that we pull back immediately and head to the jump point to report our findings and get assistance in case they are hostile, while my science officer advised that we attempt to initiate friendly contact and failing that at the very least observe them from a distance, with these two lines of advisement in my mind I have decided that the best course of action is to move the ship back towards the 1st planet in the system and use it to conceal ourselves, while this is not exactly what either of my two officers wanted it is a compromise and a what I hope to be a good one, ...I hope this works.... Commander Marlon - Out.

Commander Log, Date: 06:55 Hours, 21st of April, 2177: We have begun moving towards the first planet, estimation on how long it will take to reach it are up to ten hours at most an--- Yes ensign what is it? What do you mean you have detected missile launches! How many? did you just say twenty fire, Pull us around and get us out of here immediately, and go for general quarters, estimation until impact Ensign? Three minutes! But we are over two billion KM away, alright order all hands to brace for impact and tell everyone to get to the life pods, no lieutenant I am staying here if I can keep the ship moving then the missile impact will not impact the lifepods, and this may be your only chance, hopefully they will not see the lifepods when the missiles impact.

This is Commander Marlon Studebaker of the UNSC-Tannenberg to any UNSC ship that finds this, the fourth plan----*static*

Life pods launch as the ship is engulfed in flames

UNSC - Tannenberg - Lifepod #6

Lifepod #6 this is Lieutenant Davies of the 5th Marine Platoon compliment that was stationed on-board the UNSC - Tannenberg, this is a message to all UNSC forces, be aware Cygnus is designated Xeno-Charlie, do not approach, I repeat do not approach, there are sixty of us left from what I can find, the comms are scrambled from the radiation caused by the explosion of the UNSC - Tannenberg, I have ordered what is left of my marine compliment to get ready to defend the life pods against the aliens if they attempt to board us and we are working on ways to get our drop pods landed on the 1st planet, Lieutenant Davies out.

All sixty survivors of the UNSC - Tannenbergs destruction would later suffocate in their lifepods

Continuation of the UNSC Report on the year 2177

August:

August - 28th, due to communication loss with the UNSC - Tannenberg  the Office of Naval Intelligence has requested that we immediately investigate his last known position and ensure the Tannenberg is fine and does not require assistance, we have obliged that request and the UNSC - Bellerophon has been dispatched under the command of Commander Casey Waymire who is tasked with locating the UNSC - Tannenberg, it should show up this is a regular occurrence in the UEG, could be atmospheric or electromagnetic storms causing communication loss.

UNSC - Bellophron
(27th of September)

Commander Casey Waymires Commander logs on the 27th of September:

Commander Log, Date: 11:00 Hours, 27th of September, 2177, We are a month into our journey from Alpha-Corvi III and have arrived into the Cygnus system, I do not understand why high command believes that we should even be out here, the old studebaker has probably got lost in a asteroid belt... anyway we have entered the system and will perform a full perimeter scan in edition to long range scans from our current position.

Commander Log, Date: 12:00 Hours, 27th of September, 2177, Well so far long range scans have indicated some kind of wreckage near the systems star, the wreck seems to be orbiting the first star, I will report back once we have full detailed scans of the wreckage as well as what it could be, most likely drifting wrecks of some kind.

Commander Log, Date: 13:00 Hours, 27th of September, 2177, I feel terrible now... I have just been given the fully detailed long range scans and the images appear to show the wreckage of the Tannenberg, well whats left of it anyway and from what our sensors can detect at this range we believe the ship was impacted by some kind of nuclear weapon as scans indicate higher levels of background radiation, under the advisement of my first officer I have decided to keep the ship at a distance for now as while we may stand a better chance then the Tannenberg, we do not have the weapons nor the support to fight a hostile alien race that we have no intelligence on, in the meantime we are going to be transmitting these logs as well as a report on the Tannenbergs destruction to Earth, will report back once this has been completed, ....why...did...i...for...*sigh*.

The full findings and message from the UNSC - Bellophron would reach UNSC Command in two months

Continuation of the UNSC Report on the year 2177

October:

October - 2nd,  the construction of twelve Rapier class strike interceptors completes, as well as the arrival of the first colonists in the Savannah system, they will be landing on the newly designated moon of Reos, the moon was named after the commander of the UNSC - Savannah who first discovered the system in 2172.

November:

November - 27th, UNSC Logistics command lands deep space tracking stations on Alpha Corvi-A III, this is the start of permanent settlement and will the detection of any contacts entering the system within the range of the third planet.

UNSC - Bellophron
(3rd of December/18th of December)

Commander Casey Waymires Commander logs on the 3rd of December:

Commander Log, 17:00 Hours, 3rd of December, 2177, We have finally finished transmitting the data to UNSC Command and I have now taken the ship out to the wreckage in the distance, I sometimes wonder If I should of waited so long but with my bridge crew in agreement and the evidence, I do believe that we took the right action, will report back when we finish analysis of the wreckage.

Commander Log, 11:00 Hours, 18th of December, 2177, After reaching the wreckage we could no longer deny that it was the UNSC - Tannenberg, after this realisation I ordered a full scan for any life signs, as well as for complements of marines to load up and deploy the use of vacuum suits to recover the black box of the UNSC - Tannenberg, once it was recovered we would be able to tell what had fully happened to the UNSC Tannenberg, and they are currently in the process of securing the black box as we I speak, in the mean time there are six life pods located about 1mk away from the wreckage of the Tannenberg, I have sent another detachment of marines to recover the lifepods and bring them into an emergency cargo hold.

Commander Log, 12:00 Hours, 18th of December, 2177, We have recovered the black box it appears to be in a damaged condition and my science officer is unsure how much data could be recovered without the proper facilities, under the advisement of my science officer we will set course for the outpost on Alpha Corvi-A III so that we can analyse the data immediately, in other news... *sigh* only sixty bodies were recovered from the lifepods, the rest of the bodies of the crew of the Tannenberg are gone... the crew totalled 311, it appears only those who got to the lifepods managed to escape immediate destruction, but my medical officer indicates that they suffocated in their lifepods around a week after destruction of the UNSC - Tannenberg, the Aliens.... they just.... left them to die... the body of Commander Studebaker was also not recovered, neither was the body of any of his bridge crew except for Lieutenant Davies who I was told was found in the sixth life pod hunched over his weapon, will report back once we have completed operations.

Commander Log, 13:00 Hours, 18th of December, 2177, We have set a course for the outpost on Alpha Corvi-A III, all the bodies found in the lifepods were recovered and the blackbox of the UNSC - Tannenberg even slightly damaged will be of use, we found no alien contacts so far, either they moved on after destroying the Tannenberg or are observing us from a distance, either thought is not one I particularly like, we will be back at alpha Corvi-III in two months, Commander Casey Waymire -out.

UNSC - Emergency Report to the President
(December 3rd)

I regret to inform you sir, that the UNSC - Tannenberg was destroyed with all hands lost shortly after losing contact with the vessel, it appears it was destroyed by a hostile alien force with some kind of nuclear weapon, the blackbox as well as the bodies of the crew have been loaded onto the UNSC - Bellophron who confirmed the destruction of the UNSC - Tannenberg and they are to be brought to a nearby outpost for analysis, I further regret to inform you sir that Commander Marlon Studebakers body was not recovered.

It is within my opinion that we need an immediate response to this, I advise we send a carrier strikegroup to Alpha Corvi-A and start the building of listening posts in the area to detect any further alien contacts as well as increase ship production to handle the movement of half of our navy to the Hector Arm, it lies with you President on what to do.

-Admiral Andrea South

Hey guys, unfortunately I have gotten a divide by 0 error that seems to have made it so I cannot continue the game past this point (year 8) and as such I will be restarting on 1.7.1 which should come out later today, I apologise to the people who were getting really into it but it looks like the story of Marlon and the UEG in this timeline is over, the next timeline with be happening soon and hopefully will feature new and exciting characters and events, again I wish I could continue, I will see you guys soon!

-Regards

The Funeral of Commander Marlon Studebaker and the UNSC - Tannenberg
« Reply #11 on: April 20, 2020, 03:57:09 AM »

The Funeral of Commander Marlon Studebaker and the UNSC - Tannenberg

September 26th, 2178.

The Year had been one of the saddest in UEG history with the death of the most beloved commander in the UNSC as well as the UNSC - Tannenberg and its entire crew of 311 that came with the discovery of hostile aliens, it was now time to lay to rest the bodies of these brave men, unfortunately Commander Marlon would not be there physically as his body had been obliterated in the initial nuclear blast, they would be laid to rest at a  war memorial site in the capital city of  Sydney, Australia, besides him would be his brothers and sisters in arms who were laid to rest during the battles of the departed in the decades leading up to the year 2170.

The Funeral took place at 01:00 hours in the afternoon with almost every person from the UNSC and UEG high command in direct attendance and millions more lining the streets and outside the memorial, this was a shock to society and everyone was grieving , if it were not for the fact that the funeral was occurring today there would of been mass demonstrations in the street calling for UNSC response and escalation against the aliens, the populace in the days prior were using Commander Marlon as a martyr and proclaiming that he died in the line of duty for "Earth" and that the UNSC should fight in the line of duty for him, but not today as even the most fervent of demonstrators would not go against the mans own funeral.

It was a traditional military memorial service, six marines carried Lieutenant Davies the only body of the bridge crew recovered to the summit and placed the casket into the ground, once they had done so, eight UNSC Marines marched in with guns to the side and fired a 21 gun salute, every shot fired into the air and as they fired  the casket was covered up by dirt, all around the memorial were metallic poles sticking out of the ground in an ornamental pattern that signified all 311 men that died on the UNSC - Tannenberg, the memorial grounds were officially called the "Tannenberg Memorial Grounds".

Once the 21 gun salute finished the president of the UEG stepped forward to speak, the words below were transcribed from the funeral proceedings.

"It is with great dismay, great sadness, that I stand here... for myself, I remember coming to a site just like this one and presenting the very man we are burying with a medal, for words cannot describe how the people of earth felt when they heard about the loss of their commander, of their hero.... because that is what he was a hero and without heroes we would not be standing on this very ground, on this very earth."

"While I never served for the navy, I served for my planet and for my people and I wish I could of served this one better, I sometimes think to myself what we could of done differently to change what had happened, and with that thought in my mind, I can think of ways to help improve peoples lives just like our hero did."

"But let us not forget the brothers and sisters of the Tannenberg, they served with our commander... our hero and they did so with all the diligence and discipline expected from the UNSC, without those men and women we would not be here today either, I wish for all members of our armed services and those of our private sector to take these words and this sacrifice and turn it into one worthy of marlon... of our hero."

"For we are unified, for we are human, and for we are in this together!"

The Funeral Ended with those last words and a glimmer of hope in the eyes of all those in attendance

Author Notes: this was the plan for Commander Marlons funeral but it would of been a bit more extensive but I did not have the time as I have to prepare now for the next timeline

Progress Update on Next AAR

With 1.7.3 out I am now making rapid progress and the next Halo AAR should be up by atleast the start or end of tomorrow, currently redoing the ships at the time of this writing, hopefully with all the bug fixes we can go to 10-30 years and also am improving the ship designs as I tend to do at the end of every campaign so keep an eye out as they will be different.
