AAR- The Empire -1
Jan.    1st 2020
The Start of new era, an extensive government funded research program is put in place, in addition of a massive industrial project that aims to triple the construction capacity of the new nation.
The initial estimates gave 2046 as the date for the end of such a project.
Feb.    11th 2023
Due to ‘severe medical problems’ some leading scientists of the Empire had to retire prematurely, leaving 5 lead scientist, available for research assignments; 4 of which are Biology and Genetics specialists.    The 5th is a Logistic specialist assigned to a crucial Construction and Production project.
The lack of diversity, among the scientific establishment appears as very worrying for the political leadership to the point that building more academies is discussed despite the obvious need for new construction factories.

Plans were drafted for the first transnewtonian space ship in the history of humanity, the HMS Newton GEV01, using the newly developed Ion Engines, it will be the fastest craft ever built with a speed exceeding the 4000km/s.    The Newton will be equipped with cutting edge geological sensor technology, in order to better survey the bodies of the solar system and find new minerals deposits.    4 Newton Class Geological survey vessels were ordered.

Unfortunately there was one commercial shipyard on Earth with a capacity of 64 kTons and a single slipway, it was judged wasteful to use such big shipyard for 3700 Tons ship, so it was decided to use a 5000 naval shipyard (with 2 slipways) instead, although less than ideal this was deemed the most economic way to build the new vessels.    The sensors and engines were built in advances via industry.

The construction of the HMS Newton GEV01 and of the HMS Fermi GEV02 is finally over, the construction of these new ships is the symbol of a new era for Humanity, therefore, the emperor declared July 16th a national holyday.    The ships will be sent in a two years geological survey mission in the solar system while the two other scheduled ships are being constructed.    These ships although technically intended for commercial use will be commanded by Navy officers like every state owned ship, that decision was taken in order to give some work to an largely idle Officer Corps

The enormous industrial expansion project is finally done too.    Cuts had to be made in order to not indebt the empire, the new Empire now has at its disposal a thousand construction factories for an annual build rate of 17500, a lot of which will be used to build research labs and financial center in order to boost the income of the Empire which is currently struggling with its negative income.

The first proper human class of military vessel the Curie Class of gravitational survey vessels, was officially launched when the HMS Curie GSV01 and the HMS Fermi GSV02 were finally launched.

The first space-faring freighter in human history was also built, the S.   S Cornwallis FT01 was finally launched.    The Cornwallis was designed to be as fast as possible because it was thought that a fast freighter with one cargo hold was more useful than a freighter of the same size with two cargo hold but less than two times slower.    Thus a lot of space was allocated for the engines.

The gravitational survey of the Sol System is over, only 3 jump points have been found.    Although this discovery is important, it is at moment not exploitable since the so-called “jump drive” technologies exist only in theory at this point, the priority at moment is to properly exploit the solar system.    With these goal in mind the Emperor, quickly decided to create broad list of priority, which goes as follow:
1- Survey the system.
2-Establish a Colony on Luna, transport infrastructure and colonist there.    In order to create trade between the planets of the empire and create additional taxes revenues
3-Establish automated mining colonies on celestial bodies rich in minerals, and transport these resources to Earth.
4- Terraform Luna.    Preferably via the use of dedicated Terraforming bases or ships.
5-Establish a colony on Mars and terraform it.
6-Support the civilian economy by subsides if at all possible.
7-Building Jump capable scouts to explore other system, in search of new opportunities.
8- Build warships to defend the sol system and reassure the population.

I used to think that there is no such thing as a complex game, that all the difficulty was in the learning curve.
Whenever you think you have learned Aurora, you will eventually be proven wrong.

Sometimes I wonder if even its creator has learned it.
