Sub Fleets
« on: May 14, 2021, 01:31:51 PM »
I have a suggestion to add a tab or section where Specifically SURVEY Fleets can divide for a survey and at the end Join together into a single fleet.
I can create a sub fleet but when they divide for a survey I have to manually move each single Ship back into a single Sub Fleet unit to recreate a sub
fleet.    THIS gets monotonous and Tedious

THANK YOU

This can actually be done. You will notice that when you select any fleet, there is a tab called "formation". Specifically, you can use that tab by selecting one of the fleets with the individual ships and setting their "anchor fleet" to the primary survey fleet you want them all to join to.

Once you've set this up for every survey fleet, select the fleet that is acting as an anchor and use the "recall escorts" button near the bottom. All fleets that have the selected fleet as their formation anchor will instantly begin travelling towards it and will join it as sub-fleets. This is key because sub-fleets will actually remember their formation settings when detached, which means you only have to set this up once for every survey sub-fleet. Also, there is another button called "detach escorts" that does the opposite of its recall counterpart, which means you can with one click launch every survey sub-fleet in the survey fleet.

Edit: I should say that in order to edit the formation parameters for a sub-fleet you must first detach them from their parent fleet.

This technique is also very useful for scouts attached to a combat fleet as you have other parameters that specify distance from anchor, bearing relative to anchor and threat tracking, allowing to with one click "fan out" all your scouts.
