i feel like there is some kind of moral obligation to spinal mount a ship like this, though i freely admit the spinal is more efficient on a ship which can control the range.  otoh 4800 kkps isnt really "bargelike" slowness, idk ymmv.

are you sure that armoring a turret increases survivability more than the same volume of armor just on the surface of the ship?  even more than surface armor, turret armor presents the risk of not coming into play until after the ship has been badly impaired by enemy fire.
in the 15cm quadturrets, 3 layers of armour increase the htk to 40, whilst only costing about 100 tons in wheight. I think its worth it against armour piercing oponents. im using compressed carbon armour

there is a special joy to something that works better in practice than it does on paper.  that is the particular flavor i look for in gaming.

I am used to fighting big bad spoilers, using low tech, my magneto-plasma cruisers and fast battleships tend to go at around 10.000 km/s. This ship feels very, very slow, but im starting to like it. Still need to see what it can do against spoilers

Well, against the enemies im fighting right now, the armour is probably better, but against higher damage enemies, it soaks up a lot, a decently srmoured turret can have more htk than the engine for example. It also keeps the guns firing, and can help prevent chain detonations in case the reactors get taken down. Its not really optimized, it just happened to work better than expected, so I decided to post it here.

Is there a reason that your fast firing 15cm turrets have a slower tracking speed then their larger counterparts?
Yes, the reason is that im incredibly stupid and did not notice. Also, never came into play

Also all the turrets are armoured, and give the ship quite the survivability tbh

I realized recently, that being twice as fast as my enemies was not doing me as much good as I wanted, and that inspired me to make a big tanky slowpoke that is as close to indestructible as I can get with my tech, whilst still putting out lots of damage at range, and having some big guns.
Gave it Boarding capable assault ships because yes, and it come with a grand total of 12 marine companies when fully equiped with parasite crafts, for a grand total of 3000 tons of genetically engineered fighting tanks with legs. had one soak a grand total of 4500 damage yesterday. noice
