ive started another game because the earlier one didnt save. . . oh well. anyway, assigning scientists and im getting this:

Is there a specific reason why you are on 1.13? The latest version is 2.1.1 (IIRC) now, so you might want the new version.

I think you need to investigate why your computer can't download the game because that make very little sense.

Could be anti-virus or firewall blocking it.

Antivirus and firewall tends to not like Aurora because the site is so old and doesn't use HTTPS. Most commonly a browser or AV will block the download because of this, and you should be able to just turn that off or convince it to let you make an exception.
Personally, I never have problems with this, but I tend to run my computers in "I know more than you" (https://i.imgur.com/POlH3I1.gif) mode, so YMMV.

I basically view anti-virus software as bloatware these days... you don't get viruses if you know what you are doing and even if you do you should never have anything important on the computer so you can just reinstall if you think you have.

You put in a symbol or something in a field that does not normally accept them. Where exactly would depend on what function 616 calls on. Only Steve knows. But as others said, you should play the latest version instead.

turns out this version gets upset when you have 1000 or more research labs. once i use enough to drop below the 999 the error message stops appearing.
playing the up to date version, maybe. this version works and i'm inherently lazy as it is

sounds like a decimal point issue. Check the forums for info on that

lazy i said, it goes away after i drop below 1000 labs. no other problems have popped up, well other than aliens, and in this new improved timeline im up to a DR of 24 with them instead of a shooting war.
