v2.2.0 Bugs Thread
« on: November 26, 2023, 08:41:21 AM »
Please post potential bugs in this thread for v2.2.0

First, please check the Known Issues post before posting so see if the problem has already been identified or is working as intended.
http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php?topic=10637.0

'Me too' posts for unresolved bugs are fine as it shows they are affecting more than one person. Any extra information you can provide in 'me too' posts is very welcome.

Please do not post bugs from previous versions unless you confirm they are still present in v2.2.0

When you post, please post as much information as possible, including:
The function number
The complete error text
The window affected
What you were doing at the time
Conventional or TN start
Random or Real Stars
Is your decimal separator a comma?
Is the bug is easy to reproduce, intermittent or a one-off?
If this is a long campaign - say 75 years or longer - let me know the length of the campaign as well

The Admin Commander window now seems to be oversized.  the right side of the window is filled with empty space and the window is now as big as 1080x1920.

First bug report!

Commanders window appears to have a large chunk of empty space on the right which extends the window quite a bit horizontally - longer than 1920px for sure.

Fresh 2.2 install, just started a new test game, TN start, Known Stars, etc.

Automated Planetary Governor assignment doest work.

When you tick the "automatic" box and pass the time it switches back to "manual" and no gov is assigned.
Same with selecting automatic and assigning gov with a button.

Tested both on Luna and Earth.

Everyone please keep reporting bugs and I will tackle them tomorrow. My focus for this evening has moved on to wine :)

If the commanders window bug is too distracting, the v2.2.0 download now includes a fixed Aurora.exe.

Encountered a bug and a subsequent freeze, when creating a new game:
Code: [Select]
2.2.1 Function #2939: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Happened when creating a Random Stars game with >=1 starting NPR-s
Doesn't happen with Known Stars games with starting NPR-s;
Doesn't happen with Random Stars games with no starting NPR-s

Decimal separator is a period, happens every time for me

+1

You don't need to pass the time, just closing and reopening the window will do. Also, if under automated, it switches back to manual even if you click on the assignment button. My guess is that for some reason it switches back to manual as default all the time.

Copy + Update formations hide parent formation templates in the Ground Forces Organizations tab.

During game setup, I have found the "Copy + Update" button useful to create copies of formation templates when I want two or more formations to have many similar elements, and just replace the elements that change between each formation template. I realize this was not the intended use of the button but I find it useful.

Except... then when I go into the new Organizations tab, many of my formation templates are missing! I have realized that this is because the formations which I copied are basically replaced in this tab, rather than having the parent and child formation templates both.

I think I understand that this is probably working as designed, but I think it's a pretty awkward "gotcha" in the ground forces UI and should count as a bug. Since we probably still want actually updated formations to replace old ones in this tab, the best solution may be to add a separate "Copy Template" button in the Formation Templates tab to hopefully avoid this kind of thing happening. For right now I have learned my lesson and the error is correctable in the DB.

SJW: Added a Copy button to v2.2.1

Conventional start, random stars.
I launch a geological buoy carrier missile. In increments when the buoy should separate from the missile, I get an error - 2.2.1. Function #2059: An element with the same key has already been added
