Mythic Starlight: Updates
« on: July 19, 2021, 01:27:11 PM »
Background
In 2014 scientists were racing to unlock the secrets of the cosmos. Beset by frequent dead ends in research and lackluster results, hope of a interstellar humanity quickly fades. This was until 2015, when the Voyager arrived. The Voyager was a massive and monolithic metallic celestial body that hovered over Mars. This strange object was perceived as an imminent threat to Earth. The United States, People's Republic of China, and the Russian Federation united together to send three astronauts on a journey that would forever change the course of human history. The three astronauts found the Voyager and rain began to fall on the planet of Mars. The message was made clear: Voyager was not a conqueror or eradicator. The Voyager is benevolent.

Soon, the Voyager gave the greatest gift of technology we now know as Trans-Newtonian tech. Humanity settled the Sol System, making great strives in technology and progress. Disease was a thing of the past. Human lifespans increased. The population's growth skyrocketed. After the blossoming golden age of prosperity a real threat came to Earth: the Shroud. The Shroud was the antithesis to everything that the Voyager was. The Shroud cut off all communications in the Sol System and began to destroy colonies beyond the reach of the Voyager. Planets that had once been terraformed by the Voyager were made uninhabitable. The survivors fled back to Earth and told horrific stories of bug like creatures that were unending in number. The Voyager's light waned as the forces of the Shroud came closer.

The Voyager retreated into the depths of deep space without warning. Some say the Voyager feared being destroyed by the Shroud. After Voyager disappeared, the Shroud vanished as well. Presumably to hunt down and destroy Voyager. Humanity fought alone for years against what they called the Warhive, who were the remnants of the Shroud's forces. By 2024, Humanity had successfully driven off the last Warhivers. At the start of 2025, Voyager returned to Earth, having vanquished the Shroud in the darkness of deep space. The nations of the world came together and united under the flag of the newly formed Conclave. Conclave Council seeks to rebuild from the Dark Age and into a prosperous Age of Starlight.

Campaign Notes
Previously, my Duranium Curtain AAR was light on the roleplay and fiction, this campaign will be heavy on roleplay and fiction. The "perspective" of this AAR will be from the Voyager. Certain components are renamed to fit my own flavor of "Mythic Sci Fi." Such as Railguns are called Railcannons, CIWS are renamed to Commercial Defense Weapon Platforms, and Gauss Cannons are called Plasma Cannons. I've loosely inspired this After-Action Report on the Destiny series, but I will be taking plenty of creative liberties to make this setting my own. I am limiting the size of ships and ground forces. I will not be producing only efficient ships or ground forces, there will be a few oddities in some designs.
  • Starting population of 500 million
  • The only active spoilers are: Star Swarm, Rakhas, and Precursors.
  • Default Research Point and Build Point values.
  • Similar to Steve's Gothic Campaign, I will have plenty of shipyards with only 1 slipway.
Conclave Navy Designs
The Hunter class Light Cruiser is one of the main ships of the line for the Conclave. Hunters are built for short deployments and for accompanying larger capital vessels. Although no such capital vessels are designed yet. Having four 120mm Railcannons and 2 Plasma Cannon Turrets for point defense, its armaments are light. The sensor platforms aboard the Hunter are military grade, allowing for vision up to 39.5 million kilometers.

Conclave Army
The ground forces of the Conclave are sparse. Most Conclave combat formations are intended for garrison deployments. However there are some full service combat units in deployment. The Conclave maintains a standing force of at least 2 Corps (compromised of 2 regiments) and a mandated Garrison regiment for each colonized world. Since the Warhive invasion and the attack of the Shroud, Conclave High Command has been weary on fighting alien empires in ground warfare. Their experience was not the greatest.

A single Infantry Regiment is compromised of 548 Infantry, 84 Mortar Squads, 68 Sparrow IFVs (light vehicles armed with crew served anti-personnel weapons), 85 Anti-Armor Infantry, 89 Heavy Machinegunners, 15 Scouting Teams (dubbed as Guardian Fireteams) and 10 Regimental staff positions. This comes out to 10,000 tonnage regiment.

89x Machinegun Infantry
85x Anti Tank Infantry

68x Sparrow IFV

A single Armored Regiment is compromised of 40 Hawk AFVs (Medium Anti-tank with medium autocannons), 80 Sparrow IFVs, 35 Eagle AFVs (Medium Autocannons with Crew served Anti-Personnel), 224 Infantry, and 5 Regimental staff positions. This also comes out to 10,000 tonnage regiment.

35x Eagle AFV
224x Infantry

Each Corps is supplied to have one type of regiment in each. For example, 1st Corps has an armored and infantry regiment. Corps formations have assets vital to running the corps, such as supply and construction vehicles. Garrison Regiments are independent units. Thus, they have supply and construction vehicles in them. In addition, they are supplied with 5 "Chekhov" Orbital Plasma Cannons and 5 120mm Orbital Railcannons.

Conclave Army OOB
x2 Conclave Corps (each with an Armored and a Infantry regiment): 1st "Terra" Corps, 2nd "Luna" Corps
x1 Garrison Regiment: 1st Earth Garrison
Maybe, in the end, this was the best that any warrior could hope for. A chance to reconcile with your enemy, or, failing that, to fall in the pursuit of peace

The Conclave Civil Administration Offices
David Green, the Baron of the Conclave Council and veteran guardian of the Shroud War, sat at his pristine mahogany desk on a fine leather chair. Hung behind him are flags of the Conclave that  surrounded a window. The window looks out into peaceful and idyll garden with a vast fountain. Over the horizon, the celestial body known as Voyager loomed over Earth. Voyager glistened in the sunlight. The Conclave and the Beta prepared for their lift off from their dockyards and for their mission to head back into the Sol System to survey for jump points and whatever Trans-Newtonian minerals are left in the system. Green approved the mission himself. He watched a hologram display of the lift off, sweat ran down his forehead. The room was stuffy and humid.

"For all humanity, please take off..." He mutters to himself quietly.

He fiddled with a toothpick as he watched the lift off. The news anchor spoke cheerfully: "Eleven years ago, Humanity landed on Mars to find Voyager. Who knows what our next discovery might be?"

The Conclave and the Beta Survey Ships take towards the stars months after the formation of the Conclave and days after the return of the Voyager. A cargo freight group lands 100 units of infrastructure on Luna. Within a few short weeks, the Beta and the Conclave are able to find mineral deposits on former planets. Various commercial ships are under construction: two more Gammas, one more Zeta, and more one Theta. In addition, a new Beta class ship (the Quadrant) is being constructed on Earth.

At the start of February, a new Corps is being trained on Earth, they've been dubbed as the "Mars" Corps. A Lunar Garrison is being trained as well, to safeguard Humanity and the Conclave's interests on Luna. In the years before the Shroud, Luna was the main hub for all industrial and logistical traffic, housing millions of workers. During the Shroud War, it became a Warhive for the Shroud's minions. A Sigma class Colony Ship is dispatched to deliver approximately 600,000 colonists to Luna. The Beta is assigned to survey grav points in the Sol System.

Office of the Conclave Civil Administration, Colonial Affairs department
Kai Odonnell stood facing the design schematic of a new Sigma class Colony Ship. All over his room were discarded drafts of the new Sigma ship. "No, this isn't right." The ship had smooth curves and a flat front. "Not right at all." He scrapped the hologram design and found a new one. His room was cluttered. Kai had heavy bangs under his eyes, messy hair, and sweat on his forehead. The room's artificial intelligence woke: "Sir Odonnell, Baron Green is here to meet with you." Kai grinded his teeth "...damnit..." he mumbled under his breath. "Let him in quick," Kai said assertively.

The door slid open and David Green let himself in "Good afternoon, Sir Odonnell. I trust that all is well?" Kai nervously chuckled. "If you wanted to know how I was you could have messaged me." He pauses. "All is well. The Sigma 2 class is... going well." He awkwardly produces a smile.

Green raised a feint brow "Excellent, then you will know that Voyager expects Humanity to be stepping foot on other planets soon. Yes?" Kai nodded. "Yes, I do." Kai adjusted his lab suit "Is there a particular request you have for the Sigma 2?"

Green nodded "Yes." Kai looked around, expecting an answer. Green obliged after a moment "Make it pretty." He smirked. "That is all. Oh! Make sure that the Lunar colony has one and a half million colonists by the end of the next year?" Kai forced a smile. "Yes, Baron." Green looked around the messy room. "You work too much." He leaves promptly after. Kai sits down and wipes some sweat off his forehead.

In the beginning of March Sir Rhys Bolton who was a commander of the Beta class Survey Ship Conclave has discovered intact ruins from the Shroud War on Titan. It is speculated that Warhivers may be hiding on the planet. The Conclave Army immediately begins developing a Xenoarchaeology formation with archaeology equipment. The Conclave Army Office and Civil Administration collaborate to create a new sub branch of the Conclave Armed Forces known as the "Starhunters"

In early April the Beta discovers a Jump Point. The Conclave Council swiftly came to the decision to send military vessels through the jump point to see if there were any Warhives or hostiles in the system. The Council designated Battle Group Jewel to be headed by the Hunter class Light Cruiser. The Council wanted to speed along the expedition into the unknown system.

Battle Group Jewel
Hunter class Light Cruiser: Hunter
Dragonfly class Jump Frigate: Dragonfly
Onyx class Frigate: Citrine, Diamond

Upon arriving at the Jump Point, Knight Ben Moran (commanding officer of the Hunter) ordered to activate all active sensor platforms. The fleet found the Lambda Reticuli system consisting of 2 gas giants and many moons. After a quick investigation of the system with active sensors, the system was marked as safe for survey ships to enter. In October through December, three new Gamma class Cargo ships, a Theta class Tanker, and a Zeta class Freighter are completed on Earth. The Lambda Reticuli jump point is stabilized on both ends. Mars begins to have infrastructure transported by three Zeta class Freighters.

The early months of 2026 has the completion of the Xenoarchaeology formation researched. The current training of ground units is billeted for more combat units than civilian units. Meanwhile, the 2nd "Luna" Corps is deployed to Luna. The 3rd "Mars" Corps HQ completes its training. Conclave Civil Administration approves the construction of more slipways for Marsden Shipyard and the Barnes Shipyard. The "Five Year Plan" is to establish interstellar colonies to provide resources for Earth. A new jump point is discovered near the Trojan Asteroids. Battle Group Jewel is sent out once more on deployment to investigate. A few days after being sent, Battle Group Jewel discovers the Proxima Centauri system. It's void of any planets and deemed as unimportant to the Conclave. Mars continues to be developed in late 2026, with mines and mass drivers being imported from Earth. In addition, Callisto is found to be a viable candidate for colonization.

Late 2026 sees the completion of the "Mars" Corps. They are soon deployed to Mars after the unit's training is completed on Earth. Conclave High Command wants to keep garrisons on Luna and Mars until the Garrison formations are trained. The 2nd and 3rd Corps will not remain on their respective planets forever as they are active service members of the Conclave. Garrisons are usually compromised of volunteers and reservists. As of early to mid 2027, the two Beta class Survey Ships are unable to continue their mission due to maintenance and damage. They're both being held up by the slipway being used for construction. David Green advocates that the Conclave Navy should send out the two ships regardless of their damage. The commanding officers of the two vessels object, citing that the safety of the ship and her crew are more important. The Callisto Garrison is queued for training after the establishment of the Callisto mines and colony.

The future looks bright for Humanity in the Age of Starlight.
Maybe, in the end, this was the best that any warrior could hope for. A chance to reconcile with your enemy, or, failing that, to fall in the pursuit of peace

Chapter 2: Beneath the Surface
« Reply #2 on: July 22, 2021, 10:46:47 AM »
In mid 2027, the 1st Lunar Garrison has completed their training and is deployed to Luna. The 2nd "Luna" Corps returns to Earth from their Lunar deployment, having little to no combat encounters during their deployment on Luna. At a Conclave Army press conference, Knight Grand Commander Jake Manning states: "We seek only to secure peace to our worlds. We are not warmongers." The Quadrant was constructed and set to explore the Lambda Reticuli system. The expedition into Lambda Reticuli is to be protected by Battle Group Jewel. The Civil Administration approves the colonization of the planet marked as Julius, which is a moon of the 2nd gas giant in the Lambda Reticuli system. The moon has minimal deposits of Trans-Newtonian elements. The Voyager terraforming tech might be able to terraform this moon into a more hospitable place.

The Quadrant completes the survey of the Lambda Reticuli system in November of 2027. Quadrant's commanding officer (Sir Adam Morris) is rewarded a medal for his service, as well as the science officer (Squire Joshua Patterson) aboard. The colonial department remarks that the Lambda system is unremarkable. Robert Odonnell, cousin of Kai Odonnell, is assigned as Governor of Julius.

Conclave 2028 Industrial Report
Fuel Production per annum: 3.77m
Fuel Reserves: 0 litres

MSP Production: 12,805 MSP
MSP Stockpile: 48,722 MSP

Current Industrial Projects:
  • %40 of industrial capacity dedicated to building 171 new Construction Factories
  • %25 of industrial capacity dedicated to 25 new mines
  • %20 of industrial capacity dedicated to 1 new Repair Yard
  • %15 of industrial capacity dedicated to 2 new Military Academies
Future Industrial Projects:
  • %25 of industrial capacity dedicated to 1 new Terraforming Station
  • %25 of industrial capacity dedicated to 1 new Fuel Harvesting Base
  • %20 of industrial capacity dedicated to 2 new Deep Space Tracking Stations
The Conclave Council declares a state of emergency on fuel reserves. Two Theta class Tankers are constructed but are empty on fuel. In addition, there is a massive worker shortage across the Conclave. This shortage has lead to many economic shortcomings. Mines are moved from Callisto to Earth to accommodate the shortfalls in workers. Geological Survey Team codenamed "Discovery" is being trained on Earth. Mars has a large mineral potential beneath the soil. The Conclave Council begins committing resources and vessels to exploring the westward arm of known space. As a response, the Civil Administration prioritizes the construction of a Curator class Fuel Harvesting Station. The fuel crisis is leading to the price of sorium to rise. Meanwhile, the Survey Naval Command begins to send more expeditions into the westward arm of the galaxy. Sol has two jump points: Proxima Centauri and Lambda Reticuli. The Survey Command reports that interstellar findings have been meandering at best with only a few decent Trans-Newtonian mineral reserves in known space. In 2030, two Deep Space Tracking Stations are transported to the Julius colony.

The CSV Conclave enters into the Proxima Centauri system, alongside an Iota class Jump Tender, her mission is to continue surveying deep space. Her first destination is Groombridge 34, which is a binary star system. Groombridge's second star has 4 planets orbiting it with two of those being low cost habitability. The CSV Beta discovers the 61 Hydrae system. Another unremarkable system. The first Curator class is created and gets tugged to Jupiter. A World class Terraforming Station is set to be built for terraforming Mars once more. In 2031, strange Warhive scripts and ruins were found amongst the Titan ruins. They were known as the Susquehanna. The Warhive left behind 160 installations. The 1st Construction Team is sent to Titan to uncover the installations. The 1st Geological Survey Team "Discovery" is sent to Mars to survey beneath the surface.

Titan's ruins begin to be rebuilt by the 1st Construction Team "Bumblebee." They were able to find a pre-Shroud War Military AI which has been reactivated and is being transported back to Earth. A secret combat formation of Guardians are deployed to Titan to remove the remnant Warhive forces. The Warhive was hidden deep beneath the cities catacombs and sewers, but the Guardian Fireteam was able to dispatch of their foes quickly. Colonists are cleared for landing.

Maybe, in the end, this was the best that any warrior could hope for. A chance to reconcile with your enemy, or, failing that, to fall in the pursuit of peace
