Hey!

With the new (and amazing) Miscellaneous Component possibiity to RP the ships, I have though that we can create a list with ideas and suggestion for them. For example, Steve made the Ship Library, Entertainment Lounge and Viewing Gallery.

I suggest not to include the tons, and let the player to choose by him/herself (so can be adapted to the game style of each one).

My english is not very good (it is not my mother language) so please let me know synonims for any of the components. Of course, and as stated in the title, this is a community list, so post all the ideas you have!!

I hope this list will help to any searching for ideas (as me, hahaha).

 --- Dedicated storage space for specimens, allows for containment of otherwise hazardous micro-biological, chemical and radiological materials.

 - Science Department, Expanded Laboratories (2HS / 100 Tons)
 --- Expanded laboratory space including, specialized equipment, enhanced containment, enlarged workspace and dedicated storage for tools, data and materials.

Comms array/antenna ( you can RP that if this thing gets destroyed on lone scout that they cant send message home so you "dont know" that there are aliens in the system ).

Gift shop.

Cantina.

Item fabricator ( different variants for different items - perfect for explaining how ships never break in "no overhauls" games, crew never runs out of toilet paper etc )

Auxillary power/thermal grid - explains why ship parts never lose power without reactors being outright destroyed.

Civilian Reactor - for that Honorverse RP if you want "reactor" on a civie but dont want to make "military ship only" game.

1G ring - for them preTN/early game ships

Artificial Gravity generator/panels - for other ships.

Scenic Deck - for them passenger liners/recreation stations/habitats.

Waste Disposal system ( or going even deep - singular pump/section ).

Visiting airlock ( with honour guard, flags and all the sheebang for visiting VIP's )

Ship plaque and emblem.

Flavour CIC/Main Engineering/Auxillary Bridge/Flag Bridge.

Are you able to create miscellaneous components right now?  I can’t seem to in my game.  They don’t show up as researchable projects.

You have to design them in the design tech screen:



As this miscellaneous components are for RP (and add some extra weight), I use SM to instant have them.

Yeah I have designed them.  Do you then have to research them to build them or are you able to just go ahead and add the components in ship design without having to research?

Weird, I can SM create a misc. component from the component design page and it shows up in the class design page ready for install.  But try to create it in standard mode, it doesn't show up anywhere on the research screen in any category.

It's currently bugged, you have to use SM mode to instant them. Already fixed for version 1.14.

Y'all aren't building ships, you're building space stations....LARGE space stations. How much of this stuff can you fit in your ships and still include weapons? Did anyone mention food preparation? Or food storage?

*Shrugs* Not every ship is a military ship. Not every component goes on one ship either. Plus tonnage for most of my components is what i consider to be reasonable for individual component.

A machine shop wouldnt have as much tonnage as a bulk materials storage for example because they are no where near the same size.

That's what I can think of right now. Excluding what's already proposed.
