Ladies and gentlemen, I got excited about C# Aurora's release, so I'm going to be posting some images I've found on the web, cropped for Aurora usage.
For the time being, I've accumulated a number of Race images, which you can find here:

To add them to the game, just put them in the Aurora\Races folder.
Since it's a Google Drive location, I'll update it as I find new stuff. I may do something similar as far as ships are concerned.

There are already collections of portrait drawn from EVE Online, which are quite good, if only with a certain 'style'.
Can you give a portrait to your commanders? That would be awesome, as it would give them personality.

I don't think commanders have portraits. And there'd be hundreds of them for a single species. :o

Yeah, I'll be looking into that. It seems I've semi-consciously focused on military/aristocratic personages. :P

I can create one such file when the collection stabilizes. For the time being, I'm frequently adding stuff and it's easier to add them to the Google Drive folder. And as Doren says, you can compress and download the entire folder selecting multiple files with Shift, click on the three dots button on the upper right portion of the screen and clicking on Download.

Even easier way to download all images is to download the folder: On the path bar just above all the images (it even keeps being visible on screen when you scroll down) "Shared with me -> Races" just click on the "Races" to open a dropdown with second last option being "Download"
