Über alles in der Welt - Chancellor's Konovalova Day 2
« Reply #15 on: October 16, 2021, 04:49:55 AM »

DAY 2

The day after, Chancellor Elected Konovalova asked Fabian Jentzsch to join her and Admiral von Pugner for the continuation of the military briefing and introduction of the Navy forces. The Chancellor’s goal was to inspect and evaluate possible extraterrestrial colonization capability. Both military representatives said that in theory, that would have been extremely possible and that both the navy and the army were ready. On the navy front, the Deutsche Kommerziell Marine has already designed an independent colony ship for the fast colonization of Luna and Mars.

Even if transport colonists on other planets was easy with the current TN technology, the real deal was to actually make the planet possible to host life forms. To this end, a series of infrastructures would have been dropped on-site prior to the arrival of the colonists. In the beginning, the idea of using parts of the ship as infrastructures was pursued. After a few experiments, the idea was soon discharged as A: the ships were way too expensive to build to allow them to be wasted every trip, and B: if anything would go wrong the colonists would have not had any means to escape the planet. Eventually, another vessel, probably a freighter, would have been required to drop the infrastructure prior the colonists to arrive.

In the German mind, that would have been inconceivably inefficient. While a ship was already going there to drop the colonist, why waste more fuel for another ship to arrive at the same destination and back to Earth? Eventually, the freighters could have been used for better and more important missions. The Numancia was then designed by the Spanish with this German concept in mind. The colonies were identified and classified with a scale of survivability, where 1 was Earth and higher numbers would have represented the different levels of survivability of each body and eventually the number of infrastructures needed for the human life to survive without dangers. Since both Luna and Mars were level 2 colonies, the Numancia would have then been able to transport colonists and the infrastructures needed for them to survive in one drop.

The Chancellor thought then that everything was in order and asked a few minutes to arrange a vote in the Senate to approve both Luna and Mars colonization missions. However, another piece of information was needed for her to make her case. How would have been possible to defend and ensure the required level of safety of the colonists?

Again, the Deutsche Kommerziell Marine would have helped. This time though was the Japanese that thought of the issue. In fact, during the war, the Japanese found themselves struggling to conquer every single little island in the Pacific. While their technological superiority ensured fast fights (an effective TN fight tactic that the Germans called Blitzkrieg) move troops around all the time was time-consuming. The Japanese didn’t think much of this logistical issue and when the war started they found themselves with not enough troop transports and mostly with large Army Groups that required too many vessels to be transported. They designed the following for the space conquests:

The Hyuga class was designed to move efficiently the smallest group of soldiers of the Deutsche Heer: the Guard. Each Guard group was able to work independently and while not required, they could have been still reorganized in larger Battalions if needed. The Guard was an Urban Guerrilla force ideal to defend small outposts or cities and was already used on Earth to pacify the most rebellious regions successfully. The Chancellor was excited by the news and asked how many Guards were already able to be dispatched. Oberst von Pugner released then the list of all the Army forces currently on Earth:

Total Formations: 137
Total Transport Size: 1,497,724 tons
Total Cost: 86,746 BP

55,818x MK I DH Wehrmacht Mannschaft
5,152x MK I Freund Machineries DH Wespe Artillery
3,388x MK I Freund Machineries DH Supply Truck

168x MK I DH Guard Commander
56x MK I DH Battalion Command
44x MK I DH Regiment Command
4x MK I DH Battlegroup Command
2x MK I DH Planetary Division Command

While the majority of the forces were arranged in large groups under the Planetary Division Command, there were still several Urban Regiments ready to be dismantled if needed. A total of 84 Urban Guards was then available. Eventually, protecting a few Solar Colonies would have not been a major issue and the Chancellor decided then to call for the vote.

The Senate was tepid at the news. While expanding was always on the card, they thought that find new TN minerals would have been the priority. The Republic was still young in its planetary form and start to think of individuals thousand in not million of kilometres away wasn’t something they were really ready to discuss. However, they did recognize that to increase and support new planetary colonies outside of Earth would have required decades and the sooner they started the better.

The first resolution was then on Luna. The small Terrestrial moon was near enough to keep under control and would have been the perfect training ground for our operations. It was then easy to let the resolution pass even if with a small 147 votes against 129. The first mission allowed for the transport of 100.000 colonists.

The second resolution regarded Mars. Here the Senate was harder to convince. Firstly, the idea of moving troops so far away was a big obstacle. While moving troops between Earth and Luna would have been easy and fast, on Mars we were looking at different numbers either if more troops were required on Mars or if the troops were required back on Earth. Also, many objected that without the necessary experience the mission would have been too dangerous and it would have been better to wait to see the effects of the mission on Luna first. The Chancellor asked for the vote anyway and the resolution sunk under a heavy loss of 91 votes in favour versus 185 against.

While she had enough political power to spend to overcome the Senate decision, Iaraina decided that it would have been better to wait for the next round of votation next year on the matter. However, as she agreed on the army resources to be spared and eventually increased, she asked for an urgent resolution to train 2 new Urban Mechanized Guards and 2 new Urban Infantry Guards along with a new Urban Infantry Battalion. Unfortunately, the Senate again united in waiting to see what the Luna mission was like before committing on any decision and rejected the resolution with 160 votes against the only 116 supporting it.

While the day brought in a small victory, the Chancellor understood quickly how much the Senate would have impacted her Chancellorship and probably, those that she initially thought of as mistakes from the previous government were probably just the result of the political compromise. Before ending the day, she asked to see the design of the previously mentioned freighters.

The Hatsukaze had the 25k denomination which in freighters would have indicated the amount of tonnage they could have been able to transport. Mainly, they could be used independently as many of the infrastructures on Earth had that requirement, however, they would have mostly acted in groups of 5 (Cargo Flotte) which would have also allowed for a better logistic capability. Mostly used only for Solar Operations, not much thought was put into increasing the range.

The Chancellor spent the night watching the first colonists embarking on the DKM Numancia CS and directed to Luna. She felt amazed by the fact that you could actually see the Ship sail all the way to the Lunar Surface mostly just by the naked eye and perfectly with a small amatorial telescope.

With a great sense of accomplishment, she decided that was time for her to get some rest.

I do love when there is flavor put into the commercial ship designs. Usually we see same-size CS/FT/TT classes for interbuild capability, so seeing all these ships of different sizes is lots of fun.

There have been a couple of tough political defeats for the Chancellor but hopefully the prestige of leading humanity's first extraterrestrial colonization efforts will buoy her and maybe earn her enough support to accomplish a useful agenda in the next five years.

Über alles in der Welt - Chancellor's Day 3
« Reply #17 on: October 17, 2021, 03:04:52 AM »

DAY 3

On the third day, the Chancellor asked to analyse the small military fleet stationed on Earth. The rudimental knowledge of the TN technology applied to space warfare resulted in a small number of ships being produced. The only weapons developed were some Gauss Cannons for missile defence and Plasma Carronades for short-range engagement. The long-range was handled by missiles instead.

The displacement of the first class of ships was set to 6,000 tons. They were identified as Corvettes and even if before the ships were classified by their roles and duties, the German way was all about the size of the hull. The ships would have then been assigned a different role in their nomenclature. While this was hard to understand by all Nations with long and established Naval history, the Germans were always known as pragmatic people and this was their way of put some orders into a very subjective way of classification happened so far. The design of the warships was handled entirely in Germany by German engineers only.

The ships were designed to operate within the inner Solar System, ideally within the first asteroid belt. Currently, there was little to no reason for the Republic to be concerned or anything beyond that point. Eventually, being the only space power on Earth, high numbers of ships would have been either obsolete due to the fast technological advancements or not used at all due to the lack of competition. The designs and production were then a mere test to understand the challenges and capability of the Navy and, as a bonus, it would have been possible to keep the most talented officers busy.

All active scanners were set to the known displacement of 6,000 tons as there was no reason to believe any other spaceships were out there. The three variants were M for missiles, B for beams, and PD for point defence and a standard 3 layers of armour was used to reinforce them. The impressive speed of 2,250 km/s set a new record for humanity, way faster than the Duesenberg Model SJ (top speed of 225 km/h) which was the fastest car ever built. It was even faster than the highest speed ever recorded (400km/h in Daytona). The ships were supported by a vessel built to provide the necessary extra fuel and ammunition needed for longer operations.

It was finally time for the Chancellor to move into more administrative roles of the job. The research laboratories and the industry was waiting to know what would have been the focus of the administration. After a brief look at the current resources, the Chancellor identified 2 priorities. Number one was to find new TN mineral sources for sure. The 117 mines on Earth were the maximum that could have been built and with no possibilities of expanding further, there was a big concern that the current output of minerals would have not been sufficient to expand and fulfil all the Republic needs.

The Sorium was being mined and converted into fuel at full capacity. Any expansion in this field would have resulted in a shortage of material. There were 2 roads laying ahead now: the first was to wait to know if and what minerals were available in the system, and the second was to study new ways to convert minerals faster. With the small data currently known, the Chancellor opted for the former option. The Senate was again set on a different tune. It was noted that there was no need to rush things and that a decision should have been made only when more data would have been available. The Chancellor’s motion was then rejected with 172 votes against versus 104 in favour.

Iaraina then moved to the second priority, the maintenance costs of the fleet and the general maintenance capacity. A double motion was needed, one to increase the capacity of the current support facilities and one to double the current number of facilities from 25 to 50. In this case, the Senate was more reasonable and approved the expansion of the current capacity while rejecting the built of new factories. The main point made was that both would have simply not been of use as they thought it was just a copy of the same request. The Chancellor was then sitting on a dangerous 3 motions refused against only 1 approved and could not afford any other mistake. Her credibility was already on the line after only 3 days. She knew that the only thing the Senate would have been united was the economy. As the Republic desperately needed more freight capability and output she asked for the approval of a new Commercial Shipyard and the built of 5 new DKM Hatsukaze-Nta 25k.

Both motions went extremely well with the construction of the Hatsukaze passed with 214 votes against 62. The DKM Katsuragi CRG, DKM Myoko CRG, DKM Onami CRG, DKM Sendai CRG, and DKM Shikinami CRG were then ordered to be produced.

Reinvigorated by the results, the Chancellor asked for the approval of a new Naval Shipyard as well. Her goal was to lay the foundations for a great space nation. The Senate was divided on the matter. While many wanted to make sure all the resources would have been invested into more productive sectors, many others thought that without the military control and power the Republic would have been in great danger. After hours of consultations, the vote was held and the resolution passed with great surprise of just a few votes: 142 in favour and 134 against.

Finally, with a few research labs still available, the Chancellor decided to close the day with a final motion. As all commercial ships were still using traditional cargo shuttles for their operations, she thought, after studying all designs, that upgrading the current equipment with TN ones would have increased the productivity and the overall speed of the operations. Impressed by the acumen demonstrated, the Senate decided to reward the knowledge and commitment of the Chancellor by approving the resolution with a convincing 191 votes in favour versus 85 against.

The day ended then way better than it started and with a good plan now drafted it was time to start looking at the future with a bit more optimism. The Chancellor again retired in her quarters for the night after thanking all the people that supported her through the rough beginning of her term.

Enjoying the LP so far!

For colonization, I just slap a emergency cryo on a freighter and let the civilian colony ships handle the bulk of moving colonists. The two hundred delivered are more than enough to start spawning civilian ships. So I just dump a bunch of infrastructure with those people and let them figure it out. RP wise I just consider those two hundred as trained experts being delivered to set up the infrastructure while the civ ships fetch the colonists.

Yes that usually works. I think it is a common way to handle civilian spawn and development.

The problem in my case is that I play a modified DB. Colonies will not produce any "feee" installations until reached the 500 million pop, so pretty much never as I play with 10% terraforming.

Also, the civian are off leaving the colonization effort entirely on the player shoulders. Again this will make eventual installation relocation also a matter of fuel and logistic. It may be easier to produce installations on site or move them from a different and closer HUB.

As my AAR are mostly based on political aspects, it is important to have challenges beyond the classic spoilers or NPRs. The idea is that sometimes the government will have to make choices which will impact both short and long term development.

Thanks for following

The only weapons developed were some Gauss Cannons for missile defence and Plasma Carronades for short-range engagement. The long-range was handled by missiles instead.

I look forward to the hilarious legal-political shenanigans which will ensue from the fact that missiles are not actually classified as weapons.

The designs and production were then a mere test to understand the challenges and capability of the Navy and, as a bonus, it would have been possible to keep the most talented officers busy.

Or, alternatively, to keep the most, um, politically concerning officers busy. Or so I imagine.

----

As far as colonization, I rarely see a good argument not to have a moderate fleet of colony ships in service outside of the civilian sector. The civilians are very useful, but sometimes I need ten million people on a certain planet yesterday and the civilians are simply too slow to meet my needs.

Recently I have been thinking about combining the colony and jump tender roles in a new design, as jump tenders tend to be rather undersized without a secondary payload and not too many colony ships are needed. This would provide some utility as well since every fleet auxiliary flotilla needs a jump tender and I also tend to need the cryo storage for prisoners so combining the roles works neatly.

Missiles for me are ordnance, which are of course weapons in the end.

I still classify purely weapons the batteries, so in the case of missiles the launchers are classified as military upgrades while the actual projectile (missile) is handled by the commercial production as that is the entity in charge of production. The military just place a purchase order.

Design a new missile instead is still a military decision and project.

Don't know if it makes sense now.

I guess you right, why does Steve do this to us?

I tried to fix it, but I guess won't happen till next Armour level and/or sensor upgrade.

If I add the smallest component it gets rounded up to 6,001...

In 1.13 we have the fighter-size maintenance module which is 0.5 tons. Should work unless your armor tech is extremely poor in which case you may be at a very awkward breakpoint.

So that seems to have been the issue.

The Senate approved the modification of the Marine Flotte I for all the Deutschland classes by a large majority.

Thanks

Über alles in der Welt - 1935/1938
« Reply #26 on: October 20, 2021, 09:41:53 PM »

1935 - 1938

The first months of 1935 passed fast without any event worth mentioning. It was not until the 2nd of September of 1935 that, thanks to the completion of the Naval and Commercial shipyard the Senate was called again in session by the Chancellor. Her plan included motions for a new production schedule and an expansion of all the Shipyards of the Republic. Motions were then drafted for the expansion of the newly produced Naval and Commercial Shipyards to the respective standard displacements of 6,000 and 50,000 tons. Both motions were approved by large majorities.

The Chancellor then moved the discussion over the existing shipyards. With the new ones replacing the capability of the current setup, it was proposed to extend the existing Naval and Commercial Shipyards to the respective new displacements of 9,000 and 75,000 tons. The Senate this time objected on the Naval Shipyard expansion was not that urgent and the increase in the capability of the newly built was already enough military spending. Eventually, only the expansion of the Commercial was approved while the Naval was rejected by a vast majority of senators.

Unfortunately, the new plan put a lot of pressure on the already fragile economic system. The Chancellor proposed to increase the number of financial centres on Earth in an attempt of reinvigorating the economy. The talks with the Party representatives went on for weeks as it was never clear where everybody was standing. While some wanted more controlled spending others were more open to a capitalistic approach. The effects of the Great Depression of 29 were still an open scar in many’s hearts and the fear of the same events repeating themselves was high. If it wasn’t for the boost of TN minerals discovery and the unification after the war, the people could have lost everything without the opportunity of bouncing back for decades.

The Chancellor could not wait any longer and decided to risk the vote that could have defined her Chancellorship forever. She could have been a saviour or a doomer in the eyes of many in the electorate. Eventually, by only 2 votes, Iaraina obtained the green light in expanding the financial centres on Earth by 100 units. The final count was 139 in favour against 137 contrary to the motion.

Meanwhile, the 5 new freighters were ready to be deployed and 5 more were to be ordered. The Senate approved the motion to construct the DKM Kikutsuki CRG, DKM Tsuga CRG, DKM Yugumo CRG, DKM Yugure CRG, and the DKM Haruna CRG.

With the new year approaching it was time to renew the requests for the expansion of the guard, the colonization efforts to continue on Luna and to start it on Mars. Still shaken by the economic crisis, on the 1st of January 1936, the Senate approved only the continuation of the efforts on Luna while rejecting the other 2 motions. The Chancellor could not tolerate any longer the approach of the Senate. The Earth-Mars line was ready for more than a year now and further delays would have compromised all expansion plans made by her administration. It was then that she decided to spend some of her political credit saved till then to put a veto on the motion and unilaterally decide to start colonization efforts on Mars.

On the 2nd of February 1936, to thank him for his advice, Chancellor Konovalova promoted Fabian Jentzsch to the rank of Brigadegeneral and assigned him to Earth’s Academy as Headmaster. A few days later, on the 4th a mineral shortage crisis hit hard on Earth. Maintenance facilities were shut due to a lack of minerals with stock levels sitting at the worrying number of 1,119 MSP. Many productions were paused or delayed especially the new freighters construction and all shipyard expansion operations. With the new economic plan just started the treasury was still in the red. Production was then focused on the new Financial centres with the rest of the activities halted.

The biggest fear of the Senate became true and the economy had to be rethought to avoid further damages. Eventually, fuel refineries were shut with fuel in storage counting 5.7 million litres. The situation was made worse by not much luck with the first year of geological survey. So far, there was no trace of TN minerals on Luna, Mars (including its moons), and Mercury. A few deposits were discovered on Venus: Duranium 23,800,032 Acc 0.8 Corbomite 33,055,600 Acc 0.1 Sorium 32,964 Acc 0.1. Due to its similar size to Earth, Venus could have hosted a maximum of 117 mines between manned and automated. On Callisto, a big Mercassium deposit counting 5,692,519 tons with an Acc of 0.8 would have been a good long term source. However, Callisto could have hosted only 30 mines between manned and automated and the idea of using manned mines along with LG infrastructure was being considered.

The 30th of August 1936 was perhaps the hardest day for the Chancellor. Unrest was increasing on Mars and several incidents were reported on many cities of the red planet. The situation become desperate when a few children died while going to school after being caught in a crossfire with the protesters and the local civilian militia. It was time to put some order and Chancellor Konovalova had to pass through the Senate to deploy 1 Urban Battalion urgently to keep the population quiet. With surprise and concern, she saw her motion denied by 246 Senators. Only 30 loyal representatives decided to support her. She moved then into a request to at least provide urgently extra infrastructure to fix the overcrowding issues at the base of the protest but that was rejected as well with the closest result of 123 in favour versus 153 against.

Apparently, the Senate was still upset because they did not want the colony in the first place. However, too many issues on Earth along with the mineral and economic crisis were the formal excuse to dismiss her requests. The reality? That was just payback. The Chancellor was then forced to use another veto thinning a lot of her political credit to counter the humanitarian crisis on Mars. While the Senate could have been seen as beaten, the reality was that with so little political credit left, the Chancellor would have been easier to control and manipulate from that day onwards, and she knew it.

It was not until the 25th of September 1936 that all new infrastructures were installed and order on Mars could be reestablished.

On the 10th of November 1936, news on new minerals discovered on Titan arrived: Duranium 8,282,776 Acc 0.8 Neutronium 859,997 Acc 0.1 Corbomite 191,774 Acc 0.1 Uridium 2,978,800 Acc 0.7. Titan could have hosted 67 mines between manned and automated and a similar strategy to Callisto was considered and drafted.

With all projects halted by the mineral crisis on the 1st  of January 1937, the Chancellor asked the Senate only to renew all colonization efforts and to include the new potential colonies of Titan and Callisto. All motions were to go ahead except for Callisto. Without the means to force the hand of the Senate, Chancellor Konovalova thanked the Senators for their understanding and retired into her office.

Finally, on the 21st of April 1937, the economic crisis was being countered by the new centres opened with the treasury finally making progress into partially repaying the debt collected. Still, the lacking of minerals could not allow restarting many of the activities, including refineries. The MSP supply dried out and factories were restarted to allow a small production. The Republican coalition, unhappy with the situation decided that for the next election only one between Jentzsch and Von Prugner would have been allowed to run to do not pick votes from the same nationalist republican pool. The Trade Party had the right to choose its candidate as 2nd majority force in the Republic

The new candidate was Kevin Selig, Administrator of the Industrial Operations Command of the Deutsche Marine. The war enthusiast man, born in the Southern German regions had a surname meaning of a person with a cheerful disposition, from Middle High German selig ‘happy’, ‘fortunate’, or a variant of Salge Jewish: from the Yiddish male personal name Zelik ‘fortunate’, ‘blessed’. This clashed entirely with his arrogant and combative personality. Rumours on his substance abuse issues have not been able to get in the way of his appointment and, on the contrary, his will of making drugs legal as his own personal legislation choice was the reason for his popularity amongst many young voters.

1938 was the Election year. The construction of maintenance facilities resumed helping clear the queue of outstanding jobs along with increasing production of MSP. The expected completion was in February. Colonization efforts were still ongoing only for Titan, with all other colonies stopped by Senate including a new outpost on Callisto. Scarce TN minerals on all bodies in the Sol System was confirmed. Now, the only chance was to have interesting findings in the asteroid belts or some of the comets.

On the 14th of April 1938, the same revolts that happened on Mars were now happening on Titan. Again, the Chancellor asked for extra infrastructures to be dropped on all colonies to prevent issues. However, as a further slap in the face, the Senate approved only new infrastructures for Mars. Iaraina was then forced to use her remaining political credit to approve also the Titan ones and on the 6th of June, the crisis was averted by the drop and installation of all the new low gravity infrastructures from Earth.

To avoid a passive in the government budget, on the 6th of August 1938, the Chancellor halted all projects in the attempt to refill the very low amount of cash and minerals available. Eventually, she also needed to start campaigning for reelection and could not spend more time in the Senate unless extremely urgent.

A few days later the TN Shuttle project was finally ready, however, the general scarcity of resources halted the upgrade of the fleet. Konovalova decided then that also a New Armour technology would have been extremely useful and asked for support for the development after having again raised the problem with TN minerals availability that could be mitigated by a more efficient mining technology. The Senate approved both resolutions quickly.

The current mineral survey mission could not find any Tritanium in the Sol System yet. As the mineral was used mostly as part of missiles and ordnance factories it did not represent a big deal. However, its usage in the production of MSP would have required finding another reliable source soon as the amount on Earth would have been depleted in less than 62 years at the current rate and potentially sooner once the new mining technology would have been developed.

On the 9th of December 1938, the first Civilian Mining company was established. The civilian mining companies would have helped the government with the mining efforts in the Sol System while a plan to get the outposts up to speed was still being developed. Currently, though, the lack of cash did not allow for any of the TN to be purchased. The Company decided then to release the first productions to the free market to generate profits that would have still helped the government with an increase in tax revenue.

Is tritanium use in MSP production a DB mod change by yourself? I'm sure it is not in the vanilla C# game.

Über alles in der Welt - Election of 1938
« Reply #29 on: October 21, 2021, 04:26:30 PM »

ELECTION OF 1938

Election night was due on the 31st of December 1938.

With the intentions of the Trade Party candidate already known, it was time for the Chancellor and the Republican candidate to draft their proposals.

After successfully delivering the Religion Ban, Chancellor Konovalova set her eyes on another important federalist battle: the institution of federal courts. The current constitution already allowed for state-controlled courts and the justice system. With the Germans now ruling over multiple countries that have had different constitutions until a few years ago, the only way to ensure consistent delivery of the law was to control everything directly.

The system did not allow for much freedom and complaints were often made over a procedure that would favour Germans over any other Republican Citizen pretty much in every ruling. The federal courts were an attempt of the Federalists to primarily promote their brand through a supposed regained freedom. In fact, while maintaining the state-controlled statute, the federalist component would have allowed courts to be assembled into the region of competence ensuring race or citizenship would have not been a bias during the ruling process. In reality, according to the constitution, the appointments of the single courts would have been still upon the central government judgement, so nothing much would have really changed unless the Republic as we knew it would have been changed as well.

Meanwhile, Jorg von Purgner understood that besides the Nationalists he could have counted also on the militarist vote independently of his Military Pension plan. He decided then to appeal the newcomer’s pool of votes instead. In doing that he could also bring on his side some Federalists with the institution of Free Trade legislation. Since the formation of new colonies on other planets, in the absence of clear regulation on interplanetary taxation, the rules of Earth applied to every trade deal and transaction of the Republic. Jorg proposed a Free Trade agreement for all goods that would have travelled from a planet to another with considerate savings on interplanetary duties, a new “off the rulings” taxation that the government was using to raise some cash due to the economic crisis.

In this election, 299 Senators would have been elected to follow the classic iter of Electing a Chancellor and forming a government. Before midnight, results came in:

  • FEDERALISTS 73 An outstanding performance driven by the popularity of the Chancellor thanks to the empathy demonstrated in dealing with the humanitarian crisis
  • PACIFISTS 52 The party is maintaining stable performances, losing some ground but remaining still popular
  • TRADE 60 The Trade Party managed to confirm themselves as a major player in the political landscape of the Republic. Again to have a proper majority, they will need to actively participate
  • NATIONALISTS 78 The Nationalists confirmed themselves as winners
  • MILITARISTS 34 Another good result considering the distrous polls prior the election with 4 more seats gained

The new senators proceeded then to the election of the Chancellor. The first round of preferences saw Iaraina Konovalova gaining 44.44% of the preferences with Kevin Selig and Jorg von Prugner ending up with respectively 29.97% and 25.59% of the preferences.
The preliminary results were then very similar to the ones in the previous election. As per the constitution, the 3rd candidate would have then been forced to drop his candidacy allowing for a final vote to be held between the first and the second. It was again the candidate of the Republicans, Admiral Jorg von Purgner to have been forced out from the run. With the Republicans more comfortable in governing along with a known Chancellor, the Admiral decided to pledge his supporters to vote for the Konovalova.

While not all his supporters decided to follow suit, the final result of 59.90% for the Chancellor was more than enough to counter the 43.10% of her rival’s preferences. Iaraina Konovalova was then confirmed as Chancellor of the Deutsche Republik for the second time. The Elected Chancellor proceeded then to analyze the coalition declaration of the senators. The possible Coalition numbers were as follows:

  • PACIFISTS 82
  • REPUBLICANS 179
  • TRADE PARTY 110
  • DEMOCRATS 162
  • WAR PARTY 70

MAJORITY 149 seats

Before declaring the ruling coalition, a motion was called to contest the election. The high amount of spoil votes (6.73%) was concerning and left the feel of irregularities in many areas. Whilst the culprit was already identified in the vote held in the interplanetary colonies, where no proper police forces were present to ensure all procedures were followed, it was noted that even if all votes would have been given to any other party out of the potential majority that would have not sufficed to either form a new majority or elect a different Chancellor.

The motion was then dismissed without being discussed and the Chancellor proceeded to declare the winning coalition. With only the Republican or Democrat coalition sitting above the majority, the decision should have been to appoint either one. However, considering the Republican support and the fact that they had higher numbers, Iaraina declared the Republicans as the leading coalition for the Senate. The opposition would have then been composed of 118 seats against the 179 of the leading majority with over 60% of the total seats, close if not same as the previous term.

As expected, during her settlement speech the Chancellor elected ratified immediately her Federal Courts Legislation which the Senate would have discussed and approved within the first 100 days of the term.

This election had also seen an increase in the number of people voting with the 27.67% of the population actually deciding to exercise their rights for an increase of 1.46% and a total of 422.19 million people over the total eligible population of 1,111.04 million.

It looked like people were again gaining interest in politics and wanted their voices heard by the Republic.
