I've checked just to be sure, nope, invaders obviously don't have ground forces. They could've nuked their hoemworld and all the colonies with population, though, right?

If we are going to talk about spoiler races, please can we do it in the spoilers forum (so players who want fog of war can avoid it).

Just look at the DB, FCT_GroundUnitFormation, filter by Invader's RaceID, to check if they have ground troops.

They don't have ground forces, but they do have military ships - they just bombed their planet for several IRL hours... Feels bad, I was hoping that homeworld invasion will be a good excuse to finally build ground forces... Ehhh...

Anyways, now it is even more logical for me - Invaders due to being different than regular nprs didn't have a species of their own, so if they destroyed that other npr then the only "species" they have is that of an npr which would explain the pic change...

You can't conquer colonies without ground troops - they won't surrender to orbital bombardment

I only wonder about the extinction part and whether it could be responsible for racial pic to bug out.

Actually this might be it - when I conquer the last colony of the NPRs, their portrait changes to my races portrait, but I'm uncertain if invaders have ground forces

Hmm, that'd explain something. So far they've only managed to scratch one of my shields and that's it, maybe then relationships dropped below 0 but it was close enough that it recovered before I noticed.

As for bombardment - well, that was not possibility, that certainly happened and I know because I checked db.

On top of that when I started attacking the npr I noticed my relationship with them wouldn't change below 0.

Is there a possibility that invaders destroyed the other npr and ships they already had scattered around their stars is the only thing that remains?...

This is because that number does not show their relationship of you, it shows your relationship of them - if they aren't shooting back it wont go down (i think). To find out the former requires ELINT espionage and luck.

The orbital bombardment scenario is certainly a possibility though I can't say for sure.

So for quite some time I noticed a strange bug of some sort - for whatever reason Invaders and a regular NPR share same race portrait on alien intel and diplomacy screen. On top of that when I started attacking the npr I noticed my relationship with them wouldn't change below 0. Another thing is that when out of curiosity I peeked at db and briefly changed (on a separate copy of db) invaders to player race just to check things I noticed on the summary screen their species name was the same as the name of the other npr.

At first I just assumed bugs due to me poking at db in the past and shrugged it off since none of it affects my gameplay in any way.
However, then I reminded myself of a planetary bombardment done by invaders that made my game stuck on 5s turns for a few IRL hours. I can't remember correctly but it could have been npr's homeworld.
Also said npr stopped exploring new systems (partially because I deleted all their jump stabilisation ships, but I expected they'd build new ones...)

Is there a possibility that invaders destroyed the other npr and ships they already had scattered around their stars is the only thing that remains?...
