Hi there,
I am designing a new beam fire control. In ye olden times, it used to be the range of the BFC is the point at wich it has a 50% to-hit chance. Now it shows: "Max Range 20,000 km" in the tech design screen. What does it mean? Do I have 50% chance to hit at 20,000 km or is this actually MAX, as in you will hit 0% at this range, if we ignore all other modifiers, like crew grade and such?

I didnt know Crew Grade still affected that. But im pretty sure its the former.

I am not sure if crew grade still affects it. I simply wanted to give an example.

I just designed a 10,000 km range BFC. In the ship design window it shows 0 0 0 0 0 0 at 10000 Range band and 50 0 0 0 0 with 5,000 range band. So it seems Max range means th point at wich the BFC reaches 0% to Hit chance.
Can anyone confirm?

This is correct - Your BFC is useless since 10000km is the closest possible range which means your weapons will never hit

Technically... In C# aurora a BFC with less than 10k range can target things under 10k km range just fine... but that BFC does not work for any PD mode at all.

Thanks for clarifaction!
