I cant find missiles in design tech or in research. all i can make is missile launchers
-
There is a "missiles" button somewhere next to the "design" button (yes, missiles got their own design screen as did turrets)
F2 screen, bottom button row
-
Also... once you've found that button... you might find this useful:

The missile design button isn't available from the ship design menu. It's only available from the population screen. Took me a little while to find it, since I normally design gear from the ship screen. The turret design button is also on the planet screen.
-
This is the most obnoxious thing...i created a series...but when i go to industrial tab the only thing i can make is icbms. The series i made...its like i never made it. when i go to missile creation screen again. in previous designs there is no previous design
-
Like all player-made systems, it must be researched. Using the missile design screen makes a blueprint. Use the research screen to find it under kinetic/missile tech and have your scientists make a prototype and field test it and refine it. THEN you can produce it under industry. This is the same as all other systems, except missiles are the only thing that you -need- to produce in industry, all the rest can be constructed by the shipyard.
-
A missile series is just a group of missile designs that ships will reload interchangably between if there aren't enough missiles of the type they are specifically allocated in the class design.
This is the same as all other systems, except missiles are the only thing that you -need- to produce in industry, all the rest can be constructed by the shipyard.
Fighters (as per game terms, not just small ships) are also produced by industry. I realise fighters aren't really systems, but carriers are pretty useless without them.
-
i created a series. but its not under the research tab...
-
ok so i got it researched... and i went to make them and added them using sm mode....then i went to my ships and told them to load ordnance. but the ammo is still 0%
-
You need a magazine.
-
For a ship to load missiles it needs two things - an assignment of the type(s) and numbers of missiles it should carry, which you can assign in the class design window, and the magazines to hold them.
-
ok. so i got the missiles...but now my ships with missiles only have the option of launching missiles at planets. the alien contacts i have. when i click on them i dont get the option to launch missiles at them

You either don't have an active sensor installed and turned on, or you don't have a missile fire control, or both.
I don't want to be offensive but this is pretty basic stuff and is fairly thoroughly covered in assorted other posts and on the Wiki, unless I am totally misremembering how I figure this out, try doing some searches for your answers either here on the forums or on the Wiki and you might get your information a bit faster.
-
Yeah, you should really consider going through the posted tutorials. It will tell you all these things and walk you through building your first ship, etc...
-
actually i have an active sensor and missile control. and when i turn auto fire on the ships target and fire on enemy ships themselves....
-
the problem is i cant figure out how to micromanaga them. (as in choose who i shoot at...)
-
F8 (combat window)
Choose a fire control under "selected fire control".
Assign missile launchers to the fire control under "assign weapons to selected fire control" by selecting them and clicking "assign".
Choose a target under "assign contact as a target" by selecting one and clicking "assign".
Your selected fire control now has missile launchers assigned to it, as well as a target.
Click "open fire" on the right of the screen.
Watch the fear in the eyes of your ennemy :)
So, rule of thumb : you choose targets for a fire control, not for weapons. You need to assign weapons to a fire control before firing.
-
Also, don't use auto-fire, it results in unhappiness.
-
ah i see. thank you
-
This may sound dumb... but make sure you've gone into the "Combat Settings" window and turned your Active Sensor ON. They are OFF by default.
