I was just running a system survey and boom, a message continued line in the event log on the system screen. I rarely see those, so I investigated and it was because the amount of minerals was huge.
Groombridge 34-A II
Duranium 32,967,200 Acc: 0. 8
Neutronium 125,440,000 Acc: 0. 1
Corbomite 162,307,600 Acc: 0. 1
Tritanium 45,158,400 Acc: 0. 1
Boronide 25,401,600 Acc: 0. 1
Mercassium 313,600 Acc: 0. 1
Vendarite 14,288,400 Acc: 0. 9
Sorium 26,832,400 Acc: 0. 1
Uridium 110,250,000 Acc: 0. 1
Corundium 68,227,600 Acc: 0. 1
Gallicite 90,630,400 Acc: 0. 1
unfortunatly its a really crappy planet for life. No real way.
What do I do, just dump off automines? Orbital mining bases and depots (with space base?) etc. . .

Automines are the usual way to go.
The minerals are not so useful anyway, besides Duranium and Vendarite accessibility is crappy, 1 Megaton at 0.5 is usually more useful than 100 Megatons at 0.1 as you get 5 times more effective production, and you will probably not run the planet dry during your campaign.

I would start with getting my best geo-team there and see if they can't find any more accessibility. It's a rare chance but if they succeed you got a really golden place to mine.
IMO putting alot of automines there is worth it for the huge deposit of 0.8 acc Duranium alone, and getting a little bit of everything else is just a bonus.

Ok, so I'll dump some Auto mines on it. Should I build a spacestation?
Is that nessary? Or do I just basically have a bunch of minerals pilling up on the surface which my transport fleet picks up and drags back to earth (it's just one jump away).

Space station would not help the mining operation really, so not necessary. But you may want some protection stationed there though to protect the investment in automines later on, so for that reason an armed spacestation or some ships can be a good idea to have in the system nearby.

When the operation gets truly huge, an orbital habitat will help so you can run a spaceport. Once its a big enough mine, the loading times will get significant, and a spaceport will help keep your round trip times low.
