Ground Based Geosurvey question
« on: April 17, 2020, 05:08:48 AM »
Hey there.

I read this in the Changes List. :

Quote
Once the orbital survey of a system body is completed, the potential for a further ground survey will be revealed (None, Minimal, Low, Good, High, Excellent). The ground survey requires the same survey points as the orbital survey, except they are generated by ground forces. Only system bodies with a diameter of at least 4000 km will be eligible for a ground-based survey (in Sol that is Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Ganymede, Callisto and Titan).

But.. where is revealed that "potential for a further ground survey"?

It is on summary Page on the economics screen
or you can find out that on system view also.  :)

So it is that small number!!

I understand that:

0 - None

1 - Minimal

2 - Low

3 - Good

4 - High

5 - Excelent

 ???

Yes I believe so, in my case Venus had minimal potential and the ground team found 1mil. of accessibility 1 Sorium.

There is also an event message if they find a body with ground survey potential.

And if the planet was surveyed and nothing was found... can it be groundsurveyed and find anything? because it does not show any number.

Not sure, but I think there is a high chance, that it doesn't have a ground survey potential if your survey ship doesn't find anything at all.

If there is no potential (number) then there is no reason to send ground teams, they will find nothing. According to Steve, there is about 1 or 2 bodies with potential per system. Some more info from Steve:

Quote
The chances that an eligible body (4000 km diameter) will have ground survey potential is equal to:
None 60%, Minimal 20%, Low 10%, Good 6%, High 3%, Excellent 1%.

I dont think that it is possible to have body with no minerals generated to have potential for ground survey.

That would be excellent change, sending teams to each body was tedious (even though teams were quite a bit easier to manage than current system).

I have created my first geosurvey dettachment

Quote
12 Geosurvey Team (VEH - GEO)
32 Rifleman (INF - PW)
10 Logistic Trucks (INF - LOGS)
4 Humvee (LVH - CAP)
1 HQ Company (INF - HQ)

And they are landed in Venus (M2)... what's next? I have clicked on the button [Active ON] and now it shows an (A) next to the name. But I dont know if that is what must be done to start the geosurvey work..

Could you help me?

You just drop them on the body with geosurvey potential and then wait, they automatically generate survey points same as geosurvey sensors.

Geo surveys happen automatically. They accrue points every construction phase until the planetary body is surveyed. As the for [Active ON] that turn on an active sensor which is only used for combat. You don't need to activate a geo survey team.

also the amount of points it takes to ground geosurvey is the same as the amount it took to orbital geosurvey, just so you know
