I know this is an old topic, but if the issue is with single thread performance you will get a lot more joy out of something like a super overclocked G3258 which is about $70 and can boost up to about 4. 8ghz with a cheap air cooler.  Since buying one I've noticed a massive improvement over my old AMD thing.

Makes zero difference I have tried this and many other things to help with performance and it seems to be a software issue not hardware. If we are lucky Steve may one day have the time to redo the code to modern systems but until then it is just a case of having a book to hand.

No. It will not help.

Aurora use ancient technologies and it will be slow no matter you do.

Folks, does running the program from a RAMdisk partition help speed up turns?  I just tried and it didn't seem to help much, but it was just a cursory test.  Just wondering if all the IO to the mdb fil;e might work better under RAM.  Thanks for any ideas - DC
