however, back to the actual interesting thing, tried a few things to get it to work(running win7 64bit)
had some problem with the msstdfmt.dll which was fixed after reading the forum for a while installed and uninstalled that simple shutdown proggie.
had some problems with patching up, tried a few different approaches, removed, installed, moved to another disk....and so on, worked for a while(4.91) until i tried to patch up to 5.14, ran into problems, started testing compatibility things and so on, and suddenly the whole thing just broke, and it forgot where comctl32.dll was when trying to access F9...removed, installed still broken...so what was the problem? twofold.
#1 was that i had not uninstalled the program properly, so i had like 5 installations of aurora, the installed version that did not want to be uninstalled took abit more work, but fixed it in the end.
#2 win7 remembers the bloody settings for the exe file, so it was STILL in compatibility mode....removed that and voila, works again at 4.91....

now back to trying to get 5.14 to work before i actually try and play the game....seems to be working *fingers crossed* will be back either when i learn enough to start playing and find out what i think about the game, or when i break it again.
