I don't suppose you have another system you could try it on?

Or maybe post your stevefire.mdb someplace and we can see if it persists that way. Would rule out a database issue.

Barring those two, I'd think Steve would need to look at this one. If you haven't, post the original bug with a synopsis of what you've tried/done in the official bug thread.

D:\Games\Aurora
Also tried D:\Aurora and C:\Aurora.

but they're all the same HDD, just two different partitions.

I made sure none of the files are read only, and I always run aurora with Admin prviledges. doesn't help.

Hey there. Did you install it to (D:\Games\Aurora) as you said or is it in the program files folder?
sounds like you're using it on another HDD anyway but just checking.

Windows 7 and vista are horribad at letting you, or programs you run modifying anything in the program files folders.

~create new folder, move stuff to it... can't edit those files once in, e.g. Really frakking annoying, but that's beside the point.

Anyway make sure the folder and files aren't set to read only via properties. Sounds like it wants to write a logfile but can't. I'm sure you've probably done this already, though.
If it comes to it, delete it and reinstall, then try working up the same way. The amount of other errors I get are pretty amazing (e.g, forget about my geosurvey vessels. they sit in space trying to scan nothing at all for years. Tankers or something with full fuel trying to refuel themselves... fills my face with errors every increment... etc.)

If you start a new game, does the error condition persist?

Yes.

I seem to remember seeing something similar to this once, if I remember it had something to do with moons forming around a dwarf planet, But I really can't remember.

I didnt even knew it can happen. any idea how to get past this issue?

Have you tried to run the game as administrator? Based on the title of the error box it is having an issue creating the log file so this could be a permissions issue.

If you use the portable aurora package from acidweb it generates the folder for you which may solve the problem:

I'm already using the portable version. didnt work. tried the regular version too - didnt work either.

Didnt help I'm afraid.

Also tried deleting the log folder in the Aurora folder (D:\Games\Aurora). it then started using the D:\Logs folder but still giving me the same error message.

Create a logs folder in the root of the drive Aurora is installed to, i.e. C:\Logs, D:\Logs. Whichever is appropriate.

TN or Conventional start?

If Conventional, start with no missile bases.

recently reinstall the game, but I cant play it. I am getting spammed with Error #5 messages. specifically:

Quote
Error in CreateGameLog

Error 5 was generated by Aurora
Invalid procedure call or argument
Please report to http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php/board,11.0.html

Heres screenshot:

Have to repeatedly press the ok button about 6-7 times for it to go away and then it happens again a few turns later.  repeat Ad infinitum. and it makes the game pretty unplayable.

tried starting a new game, tried reinstalling, tried both the wrapper/portable version AcidWeb made and the regular installation - none of that helps.

I browsed through the forum and Couldn't find anyone else with this specific issue so reported it in the bug thread but I kinda wanna to play the game. so how do I get rid of it?
