All right, thanks. 

Do you know what elements contribute to increase this combat bonus ? Is it the ship commander or the Fleet commander (or both) ? Is it related to some actions the ships accomplished or is it more or less randomized ?

Also, if it's a combat bonus, I guess it is unrelevant and useless for any civilian/commercial ship for those guys usually do not bother to keep the green tentacled blobs from Andromeda away from our beloved homeworld (shame on them) ?

Grade bonus is a bones from the commander and or experience that adds to the effective combat value - one of the reasons I tend to refit older ships rather than scrap them - my highly effective crews simply keep on getting better!

In the grid control "ships in task group" lies a column labelled "grade bonus".  What is it about ? Where do this bonus applies ?
