This game is so cool
I'm roleplaying as a human empire that is expecting to be alone in the galaxy, happily exploring, expanding and exploiting other systems. Everything was going well until one day, when one of our gravsurvey-ships in the remote system of TW Piscis Austrini was doing her survey thing, and suddenly a thermal contact appeared on the sensors. The ship's captain headed straight for the jump point and left, but the government of Earth was intrigued and decided to send out two ships in diplomatic mission.
One ship stayed just outside the contact system with transponders active, and the other one went in and received a transmission from one of the planets. The captain moved closer to the planet, until the signature of a decent sized population popped up on the sensors. Keeping the distance, the ambassador initiated communication, and soon after we were able to decipher the alien language.
The first thing they told us was to leave their system, and since they haven't shown any hostility so far, the ambassador decided to keep it that way and obliged. Soon after we had left what we suspect is their home system, a ship appeard in the neighboring system, sending a transmission suggesting we leave that system as well, as they're claiming control over that system. Again both of our diplomatic ships followed the suggestion and left the system, parking on the jump points of two of the other exits out of that system.
For a while it looked like we lost contact with the alien race, and they didn't really want to talk to us, but about 6 months later one of the diplomatic ships noticed two vessels jumping through the jump point they were watching. They left again, but a couple weeks after another ship jumped through, and to our surprise her signature matched the one from our very first contact. On board is ambassador Yasha Gagarin and now our ambassadors are talking in neutral space and improving our relationship.
They tried to talk to us from the beginning, but we were scared and ran away. But now we're starting to become friends. I'm excited to see where this is going.
