The Antarctican Harbour started a project to connect its cities with land routes years ago, when the Invaders still roamed the Earth. However, the harsh climate and limited ressources repeatedly delayed this project on its numerous construction sites throughout the years. In 2036, the first connection was successfully established between Amucott and Sanae. Celebrations ensured and news broadcasts carried the news into the exclaves, on route to which they could be received by other nations as well. As Amucott is one of the two medium sized cities located on Antarctican land far from any liquid water, the population, industry and economy - and hence, national value - were insignificiant compared to the coastal cities.
With the new maglev train route established and due to its central location on the geographical South Pole in Antarctica, economic minds predict a large role in land transport and inudstry for Amucott and the other inland city, Vostok, to play in the years to come. Other tunnel construction sides progressed slower, as Amucott forced its own advance towards the capitol of Sanae and coastal tunnels need special attention towards their stability.
It is said that only thanks to Duranium support beams the thousands of kilometres that make up the tunnel could be constructed a hundred feet underneath the ice, save from any environmental hazards. Some say an artificial ceiling and floor were imbedded to increase its durability against any aerial bombardment - answers to this rumour, however, never reached the public outside of Antarctica.
Due to the sheer length of the tunnel and the architectural achievement of the Antarctican people, politicians even debate whether to make the 21st of October a national holiday in Antarctica.
On the 11th September 2036 the Antarctican Harbour launched its first spacecraft from the Sanae Drydocks. In national news reports that were again relayed to the Antarctican Exclaves interviews were held with the construction crews, soon-to-be pilots and politicians whom favoured the project. The goal of this craft was the cataloguing of Sol on a scale that no pre-war probe could have done. It's crew of sixty-eight people would stay in space for several years, probably returning to Earth only irregularly for brief vacations, refueling and crew changes.The captain of the ship, Lt. Comander Noah Kilgallon, and his entire crew received the Winter's Star medal in a broadcasted awarding ceremony a day before launch. The Winter's Star was granted for exceptional services he and his crew would no doubt fulfill in the name of the Antarctican Harbour.
As a complete novelty, the ship's launch was followed by millions of eyes, but Lt. Commander Kilgallon and the Zambia launched without error, leaving for Luna first, and then proceeding towards the inner system further than any human had ever travelled before. Again, politicians proclaimed it as a remarkable Antarctican achievement to put the first trans-newtonian spacecraft into service and worthy of a national holiday, signaling the growing and most advanced industry on Earth. The few cabaret comedians working in Antarctican media noted that if national holidays were declared for all "achievements" the nation would make, the entire year would soon become a single vacation.
