Scientist specialisation question
« on: November 14, 2014, 04:27:25 PM »
Is it normal to only get a few types of scientist? I'm about 25 years into a game and I've yet to get a single Sensors scientist.  It was a long time before I got a couple of the others as well (15-20 years).

Was wondering if it was just luck of the draw when new scientists get created.   For reference, I have over 50 scientists.

Completely normal. I didn't get and Construction Scientists until year 30. It is all in the luck of the game.

More academies will get you more scientists, a few at the start seriously helps research in the long run.

". . .  We know nothing about them, their language, their history or what they look like.  But we can assume this.  They stand for everything we don't stand for.  Also they told me you guys look like dorks. "

I thought that might be the case so I built 30 of them. . . . guess I'll just have to wait a bit long

thanks

The random element is strong here. I've had a game where I had eight Biology specialists but not a single Power&Propulsion specialist - but I've also had a game where I've had good candidates for each fields mere 5 years into the game. Academies increase the number of scientists that offer their services to you but there is nothing but RNG when it comes to their specialties.
