I love coming up with justifications for things like that.

I tried adding in religions of various types for this setting that I'm playing now, but it somehow broke something and I lost all interest in fixing it.

*claps*

This is awesome.

Though it does really crack me up when an officer has two traits that are opposites.  I've seen "rich" and "poor" in the same entry before, for example.

You'd have to get a little poetic to make that make sense.

I get really into this, but the same ones keep popping up. There are entirely too many people in my starfleet with strange medical conditions or substance abuse issues.

Anyway, I'm ostensibly the tech guy at my job but every time I try to add these I break the game.

This is such an easy suggestion to implement that I imagine it could be done with almost no effort, I'd even be willing to write the list. The list I have in mind probably wouldn't "Jive" with some alien races..but the current list doesn't really either.

Some ideas:

Partisan
Apolitical
Egomaniac
Humble
Analytical
Mathematician
Nature Buff
Science Fiction Buff
Philosophy Buff
Hunter
Vegetarian
Unattractive
Attractive
War Game Enthusiast
Martial Artist
Survivalist
Superstitious
Agreeable
Contrarian
Gifted
Delusional
Warm
Debonaire
Academic

I've added the above for v6.40

With all of these 'personalities' which include political affiliations (apolitical), personal history (criminal history) and diet type (vegetarian), perhaps the number of personalities should be expanded to include more personalities at once.

Perhaps personal history should be put into the CO history box.

Or perhaps such things should be left out.

Pulling a bunch from the good ol' Rome Total War would be great- theres so many wonderful personality quirks for the generals in that game.  My favorite, the evil stepmother.
hahaha!
