You can have one colony for every combination of race, species and system body.

added to FAQ

The civilians like naming colonies after themselves, instead of after the system body that it's stationed on. You can rename the site back to the body, if you find it confusing.

I wonder how long that's going to last, with Aurora not being great at different species in the same colony.

With the newest changes to colonies, your empire can only have one colony on any given world. However, the game is smart enough to keep civilian mining installations separate from your mining operations - you'll either mine with both your own mines and the civs (if you're buying the minerals) or the civ's minerals will be sold, but your own mines will produce (if you're selling them).

That is not how it works currently, if you try to make colony on world where is CMC, nothing happens and when you ship installations to colony, they end up in the same location as CMCs.

Civilians established a colony on Io and it has lots of minerals.  I searched the Minerals page several times and couldn't find Io listed.  Then I realized it was listed by the name of the civilian colony rather than as Io.  Is that working as intended?

Edit - Same for the Fleet Movement Orders tab.

Yes.  After all, your empire does not have a colony on Io. . . and when it does, it will be a different colony than the CMCs.
