I didn't realize/remember Steve had changed his view on donations tbh, just spotted the notification by 'chance' that 'News' notification in top right is ...unobtrusive!

It's not just different 'cultures' that have different relationships with money, obligation & exchange.

It's a big societal question, imho, that nobody puts much effort into solving, but is a root of much of the political bickering and senses of injustice & entitlement both - because unless people have the same evaluation & understanding of those things, no level of prosperity, of mutual advantage, no trade or gift or level of wealth - relative or objective - will ever be considered fair & reasonable to all except, essentially, by accident. Socialism vs capitalism etc aren't answers to that question in the public arena because they are entirely non-comprehensive - every individual's relative perception of value is essentially allowed to 'evolve' by accident...

That we pretend we are rational creatures with a rational culture is for the most part a joke, but 'w/e.'

Relatively speaking ofc, you are earning money whilst playing Aurora because otherwise you'd likely be spending money on other entertainment, though I suspect your cat & wife's evaluations of that argument might find it lacking.

Tho I've used this forum for years to absorb great info, first time posting.  And I've got to get this off my chest.  Sometimes while sitting at work I find myself daydreaming my next plans in my current Aurora game.  Or scribbling notes on possible fleet compositions.  And then I feel a little dirty.  I think about the hundreds of hours I've spent on this game in front of my PC at home and the countless other hours wishing I was but having to make do with handwritten notes of what I'd like to do next time I get on.  And all those hours and hours cost me not one red cent.   I know his reasoning and find no fault (not that it's my prerogative to do so) with his decisions, but "Thank You Steve" feels so inadequate.

It just feels so wrong in this day and age to get endless hours of legitimate fun for free and now I have to deal with that and what that says about me.   ". . . Thanks Steve"

Oh, and I put all blame for my being in trouble with the Wife on Steve's shoulders.  Just because I'm an Accountant and have 'Spreadsheets" on my monitor, doesn't mean I am working (and please leave me alone while I'm working is our house rule in the Covid Age - both ways, she is in the Legal field).  I thought it was a pleasant change when I noticed I was getting a lot more alone time gaming vs 'clip cat toenails' and 'does this look straight'.  Turns out I'm in trouble because she assumed a 'fun game' wouldn't look like that. . . so I must be working.
