Glad that fixed it! Autofire not working is weird though. Hmmm.

For future reference, you don't need to post the same question in so many different places on the forum. The forum is really active and just posting in one spot is usually enough to get help.

TBF I'm the one who told him to move it to the bug thread cuz I thought there was some weird bug involving AWACS not working.

I did get it to work with click and drag the target to the fire control. I had no idea that was how to do this in C#.
Auto target is buggy as far as I can tell from reading other peoples replies.
And auto target does not work for me either.

Don't you need to drag targets to the fire control? It's not just clicking. You have to click and drag.

Doesn't explain why auto target wouldn't work

I can not get my fire controls to work period.   V1.  12.

I have watched https://www.  youtube.  com/watch?v=q9RBm8lpXeU that video and done the exact same steps and no joy.

I am trying to get my anti ship missiles to fire on an enemy ship.   In videos they show that first you assign missiles to the launcher and then the launcher to the fire control.   I did get that far.   Then they click on the missile then click on the target from the list then click on the fire control.   Next the target shows up under the firecontrol and above all the missiles tubes.   That step eludes me.   No matter what sequence of events I try I can not get the target to display under the firecontrol.   And my ships do not fire.

My Anti missiles do not fire either.   I tried pd fire mode and assigning a target missile direct fire mode neither work.
Not sure what I am doing wrong?

My beam weapon ships and cwis all work ok and can target fine.   None of my missile ships work.   I do have missile fire control and missiles onboard of the right type.   And they do load into the tubes ok.   And I can assign the missile launchers to the fire control ok.   Just can not assign a target to the launcher and get them to fire at either ships or incoming missiles.

I had no problems with the VB version of aurora 4X.   This is supposed to be easier.   This C# version.   But I can not for the life of me figure out what is going wrong.

Are your missile targets being tracked by an active sensor? If you are only tracking contacts through passives you wont be able to fire on them.

Yes I did build an AWACS design with both ship and missile active sensors.  The actual missile ships do not have active sensor, only fire control sensors.
I used this same designs in VB 4x and it worked when I did that in the VB version.

I just looked at the C# changes list and couldn't see a chance that says this shouldn't work. I always like to give every ship actives so I wouldn't encounter this problem but If I were you I would forward this as a bug report.

But does the AWACS ship have to be in the same fleet as the missile ships in order for the active sensor to work? Right now I have the AWACS in its own fleet to remain at a stand off position.

Well I tested this and put all the ships in the same fleet and I still can not target anything with missiles, not enemy ships or enemy missiles, in direct fire mode or in pd mode.  I just can not get the fire control sensor to lock onto any target.

Okay, "remove" was the wrong word choice.  If you want to fire at the ships you still have to set that.

They were on final defensive fire and the enemy missiles ended their turn within my FC range, but only for one 5 sec tick.

You mean that your AMMs were on final defensive? That should not be possible. Final defensive is for beams only.

Oopsie. They were on 3 missiles per salvo :)

Quick question:

Auto assign FC assigns all my beam weapons to a point defence mode.
Is there any downside to this?

Yes.

Like for example them not being able to fire in normal targetting mode?

Yes.  Exactly that.  If you want to shoot the bad guys and not their missiles you'll need to remove them from point defense.

No.

At least for me, the auto assign has always assigned Final defensive fire mode, and fire controls fire just fine at targets assigned to them even with that PD mode assigned. The fire control won't naturally be firing at incoming missiles when firing at a ship. Don't know about Area defense mode or AMM PDs, which need to open fire before they work.

Did you have an engagement mode (such as "1v1" or "5v1") set?

 - - - -

Final Defensive Fire happens during movement, immediately prior to when the missiles would hit.  Area Defense and missile launch happen during weapons fire.  Everything except CIWS requires someone on your side to have the target on Active Sensors.
