Does the ship need to be in orbit of the shipyard to be able to scrap it?

I have just designed and had built by industry a Terraforming Station with 2 Modules which I intend to tractor to Mars with a Tug

1) Does the Terraforming Station require any Fuel Storage.I have not put any on the Station.

2) If required how do I scrap the Station as it does not have a Shipyard for scrapping purposes?

You only need fuel for engines.

You can scrap ships in any shipyard that is big enough. It doesn't need to be tooled for the class.
