This mod has a popup to remind you to save. It won't be updated to the new version though.

After getting Demonides' answer I changed my jump gate ambush fleet to message me with a reminder to save once a year in addition to its once every 25 year request for an overhaul.

Believe it or not, this is actually a good thing.  I know it’s frustrating to have a bug or crash kill 8 hours of gaming - had this happen to me a few times - but it is way better than the VB6 real time ‘save’ where 75 years into a game, your civilian sector due to a miscalculation removes all the mass drivers from Earth and 20 colonies/CMCs worth of mineral packets hit earth and kill billions with no possibility of fixing it.  I rather the way it is now with remembering to save every game year.  Once it turns into habit, you barely notice it.

C# does NOT save as you go. There aren't, like, commit buttons for gameplay decisions or anything, but nothing gets saved to the database until you click save.

I just lost about 8 hours to a crash.  About 13 years in game.  This has me looking for the checkbox for annual or decadal auto-saves, but I am not finding it.

I figured I should ask here before posting in suggestions.  My not seeing it in a quick skim of the suggestions forum implies to me it exists but I am being dense.

So does that exist and if so where do I find it?
